About what unweighted/weighted GPA do you need if your school does not rank?

[bumpity bump]

you want around a 4.0 if your school is considered a competitive, challenging school. Higher if it’s not.

basically you want more A’s than B’s on your transcript, no C’s, AND it must be obvious that you took the most challenging suite of courses available to you.

According to the Naviance system at my high school, the average weighted GPA of accepted students at UPenn is around 3.99 (that number may vary from high school to high school).

But basically you want as close to or higher than a 4.0 as you can get.

sometimes posters on these boards seem to imply that you need a GPA of 4.7 or something to be considered by the Ivy League, but that’s just not true.

Um… I think our schools use different GPA scales. Can you explain yours?

For me, unweighted has a maximum of of 4.0 and weighted a maximimum of 4.97 (PE is not honors)

I’m in a competitive public high school (Blue Ribbon… it’s all asian and jewish basically)
So is a 3.75 unweighted decent?

I have really rigorous courses… BC Calc in 9th grade pretty much paints the picture of my schedule.

Thanks a bundle.
