Hey everyone. So I'm kinda looking for some advice.
I was looking through the graduation requirements for my school, and I noticed that we don't need a 4th science. I've taken Earth Science, Biology, and Chemistry, all Honors, and I made an A in each. Science isn't really my favorite subject, and I'm not really that good at it either, so I was happy when I saw that I possibly wouldn't need to take any more sciences. But I was looking at the UNC system requirements for Science and it asks for:

Biology
A Physical Science (Physical Science, Chemistry OR Physics)
A Laboratory Science

Alright, so this is what confused me. I obviously have Biology and the physical science, but what about the "Laboratory Science?" If I were to take a science next year, I'd probably do Honors Anatomy or AP Bio, but what exactly is a Laboratory Science?
Other than that, would it look bad if I didn't take a Science next year? I'm still planning on having a pretty tough courseload including AP Calculus AB&BC, and at least two or three more AP's. I just really don't want to take another science.

A laboratory science is basically a science class that meets every day during the week but also has at least one additional period set aside for lab. At least that’s what it means at my school. Bio and chem are automatically lab sciences at my school because we have a lab every week. Some schools don’t do this so colleges want to make sure students that have taken a class like chem only out of a book get some lab experience before college. But I would check with your college counselor to determine whether the courses you took were lab courses.

I think the Earth Science counts as the lab science in NC. When I asked the counselor here at my school, she said that is what it was. But, I am not entirely sure.

@helloel:
I’ll have to check with my counselor then because I’m pretty sure that none of the sciences at my school are really heavy on labs. @evanb1996:
Well I definitely hope it counts as one. That’d be great!!

And I was checking up on it again, and it looks like the only actual circumstance in which a 4th science is a requirement is if I was planning on ebing Valedictorian/Salutatorian, but that doesn’t apply to me.
