I got a quick question for you lucky people who received nominations already. When you received your nominations from your congressman, was it immediately updated on your USNA online status webpage? Or did it take some time after you receive the letter for them to upload that info. Thanks.

I received my nomination letter on Dec. 24 and there has been no change as of yet.

Alright, that's good to hear. I'm still waiting for one senator to give me a USNA nomination but I haven't received anything yet nor is anything updated on the nomination part on the website. Getting real anxious, heh.

About 10 days from the date on the nomination letter...CIS updated the status.

Ours was updated just a few days from the date we received it in the mail.

I had my interview on Dec. 2, and CIS didn't update for about two to three weeks. But, it said the nom was received on Dec. 8.

does anyone know if you get a letter or anything for getting a presidential nom? it doesn't really matter because i already have an Appointment, but my BGO said i should be getting some letter back when i go the nom. the only reason i knew i got it was because it showed up on the CIS.

i have the same question but maybe they dont scince its coming from the sup or dean of admissions?

Of course. If some ****ant congresscritter sends you a letter, the President definitely will.

i was nominated....i was on vacation & got my mail back....i checked my status page & it said dec. 21....so, mine was immediate

Haha, okay Zaphod, good to know! I like your rationale. I was wondering mainly because I got the nomination back in October, and haven't gotten anything since. Not that I NEED a letter or anything, but it would be pretty nice!

"Congresscritter" That is perfect!!

So if you know you got the nomination, but haven't received a letter....... How do you know?

Did they e-mail you? Call you?

I simply cannot imagine them NOT sending a piece of dead tree to tell you you got it. This is the GOVERNMENT we're talking about here. You know: 50,000 pages just for the TAX CODE?

boston usmc the same thing happened to me. i didnt get a letter to say that i got the pres. nom it just changed on the status site. guess theyre just trying to save paper...

Zaphod -- Each official candidate has a logon to what's called CIS (Candidate Information System), which shows you the information Admissions has on you, and what they've received. You also submit your actual application documents online, via this site. On sections of the webpage, it indicates DoDMERB status and nomination status. I knew that I had the Presidential nomination because it was listed under "Nominations" with a date. Sorry if I just explained stuff you already knew...lol.

You've GOT to be kidding!

Watch. Next thing they'll do is send you a JPG diploma through the ether.

Yeah - The reason the presidential has no letter is likely because the nomination is automatic if qualified. I imagine you'd get a letter if something was wrong/missing in your presidential nomination request package though.

Impossible. Just because one is qualified doesn't mean you get a nomination. That's why the nomination is so important.

IIRC, I got a nice letter from my congresscritter congratulating me, blah, blah, blah. Granted, this was in the day before e-mail, but I still can't imagine them NOT sending you one now.

Maybe if they included a request for a contribution....

Ummmm, our son got a letter for his Presidential. Really. About 10 days before his appointment letter. I had given him the wrong copy of his dad's DD214, we had to resubmit, etc., but they certainly sent a letter. But that was ancient history. I can't believe it's been a little more that 2 years already. Wow. Time flies when you are on this gut wrenching ride! Can't imagine what it's like for the mids!
