My son got his Congressman's nomination for USNA and USMMA today!!! Only a week after his committee interviews. Son is pumped! Another step closer. Wait, wait, wait...to go :) Thanksgiving break was extra special this year.

Congratulations! That is a weight off, but now the wait is on! Be aware of the rollercoaster! Enjoy those ups!

Dad2B'2010: Congratulations to your son!! momof1 is right - it's a hurdle and one that your son should be proud that he's made it over - but it only narrows down the competition a bit . He needs to keep working, get great grades this semester, keep working at leadership, send any new information to USNA and USMMA, etc. My son didn't hear from USMA until May 12th - so you may still have quite a bit of time to wait. Good luck.

Dad2B- WAHOOOOO! How sweet it is! Awesome news when I thought no one would hear a thing until after this holiday. What a NICE surprise to hear in time to celebrate by gorging yourselves with turkey & PIE leftovers! Now the waiting gets really tense. Your nerves are in for a raw ride. Similar to Chief's son's case, my son did not hear about his appointment until April to USMMA. It was a killer and I hope beyond hope that you'll hear something SOON. Hang tough along with your son. Good good good luck! Bet you don't go right to sleep tonight...... ;)

Lucky!! I wish that would happen to me - I've been having dreams every night of my acceptance coming, or my next MOC interview or I-Day, but haven't gotten a nomination yet.

Congratulations!

Thanks folks! We are prepared for the worst, but optomistic for whatever is best to workout in the end. Not a problem...just a bunch of rediculously anxious trips to the mailbox.

And of course...CONGRATS to both APan5 (Appointment!!!) and marmadillo (LOA!!!) Nice Job, both of you, and best of luck in your decisions and future!

I was mostly talking about the rollercoaster AFTER I-Day! Monumental highs, followed by precipitous moments and even depths which make the Marianas Trench seem like a puddle, followed by a ride up so fast you leave your stomach in your socks! Ah! The fun of it all!

Enjoy the time, enjoy the excitement, but mostly, enjoy your son. If he is appointed, summer will be very, very short. If not, I'm sure he has many, many options.

Good Luck!

Thanks Dad2B :)

If I may ask- whereabouts in New England are you from? I am from the Seacoast of NH (Hampton). Congrats to your son on the nomination- those interviews were rather intimidating. Im sure he'll be there on I-Day. Best of Luck!

-APan

Dad2B'2010! Don't prepare for the "worst" this early in the game! With the caliber of these kids applying, they're gonna go far no matter what. We're all waiting with you. Waiting for good news soon! If you prepare for anything, prepare for the day he goes away. Its a toughie.

You hang in there too, marmadillo. Time is on your side. The mids and parents aren't pulling your chain about enjoying the time you have now. You know that old saying, "Be careful what ya ask for, ya just might get it"? Well it applies. When the time comes and you find yourself saying, "What the bleep! I haven't got time to blink". Think of all of us back here on this forum sitting around in our jammies typing crazy post about you guys while eating popcorn. Oh and, practice taking showers in 20 seconds and changing clothes in 15. Best to be prepared I always say. HA!

APan5 -- great to see another new englander here! it seems like us and dad2B are some of the only few on the forum. go Pats!

haha yea PATS! and of course the SOX....

but that goes without saying haha.

haha of course; that's just understood. my school is a couple hundred yards from Fenway, so you can only imagine the Sox craziness here. if you don't openly and enthusiastically support them you'll get beaten up and won't have any friends. which means i sometimes have to remind people that the Pats are amazing as well . . . and tom brady is amazing as well . . . but i'm getting wayyy off topic . . . sorry about that!

oh, and congrats APan5 on your appointment! (i have my LOA and prez nom, so as soon as DoDMERB goes through i'm hoping to be joining you in your appointment-status!)

-shawna

Fingers, toes and ankles all crossed for you all! Thinking good thoughts and hoping you get to be yelled at by my mid next year!;)

APan5: South Shore...William Delahunt's District (10th).

I got my rejection letter from my senator today, but it doesn't matter because i have already been accepted to NAPS, so i don't need a nom. I was expecting it, but sheesh, it's hard.

anyway, congrats to anyone who has received one!!

Rosa

is ANYONE out there from NC?????

Rosa

NAPS06,

I lived in Raleigh for a total of three months this year before my company relocated me AGAIN to Laredo.

As for your nomination, don't sweat it. I was chosen as Second Alternate (whatever the hell that means) in 1986, but I got into NAPS. While at NAPS, I got the SECNAV nomination (which is almost automatic), AND my congressman's.

Just remember, if you graduate NAPS and say "yes", you're IN to USNA. Period.

Congratulations!

Thanks. I was expecting it, but it's kinda hard still.

Rosa

WiScOnSiNaVy2010 is now from Mass. also.
