NorCal vs. SoCal

It’s all in my name…NCB = Nor Cal…bear…or is it bruin…? ; )

I guess we’ll find out in a few days, huh? :wink: ha ha

I’m from socal and I love it and all but I’m kind of sick of the people here. I’m thinking of going to Davis but i’ve never been to norcal! Is it that big of a cultural shock?

@lakertime

Davis is not what you wanna see when you go to NorCal lol…going Davis is a culture shock even for those living in the Bay Area! It’s like a secluded farm town lol…That’s why I chose to go to UCI rather than Davis…Overall NorCal > SoCal but Davis royally sucks imo…my friends that go there say that all there is to do is go to Costco lololol

itll be a culture shock for you, cuz Nor Cal is that ****ing amazing!!!

SoCal > NoCal. The only good thing about NoCal is Berkeley.

norcal has the best snow resorts

I have to respectfully disagree with the people picking NorCal. I’m from San Diego but I assure you that I lost my bias months ago! I mean, I came up North didn’t I?

Anyways, as much as I love shopping in San Francisco I much rather prefer LA/SD. I don’t like the weather here, I always get sick up here and when I’m in SoCal that never happened. No good Mexican food places here. My roomates beg me to make Carne Asada fries when we miss them! Actually one of my Psychology professors asked for the receipe! I think young or older you can appreciate both North and South but nothing beats South in my opinion. I’ve traveled a lot when I was younger and would always miss SoCal but NorCal…eh…;/

You guys should have kept tally or is it:

10-10,000? (:

@ sandaboy and how are you like UCI? It’s kind of the same thing isnt it? except for the cows?

@ sakurax
weather doesn’t make you sick…germs do.
NorCal has the best weather because it isn’t monotonous. You get more than one season’s worth of weather ;)

@sandaboy Wow, then I guess washing my hands and carrying around Hand Sanitizer isn’t enough anymore? It’s the weather for me, maybe I am just used to the sun with some rain but that’s okay with me!

my vote is for Nor Cal overall. ive spent time in socal and while San Diego is really nice the rest of Socal i don’t like. LA has too much traffic, fake and pretentious people, hot weather, lack of natural beauty, crappy food, no lively downtown and too much of an urban sprawl and more crime.

The Bay has much nicer people, real seasons, excellent food, beautiful SF with a lively downtown, less crime, natural beauty and more greenery…

@lakertime

ummm…UCI > Davis in terms of location…Obviously if I got into Cal I would have gone there not just because of academics but because it’s in NorCal! But comparing just the two UCs (Davis and UCI) and not considering NorCal and SoCal: I went with UCI because they had a better business program (bus. econ and bus. admin), beaches like 5 mins away, close to LA/SD, more things to do (both UCI and UC Davis don’t have many “things to do” in their surroundings, but UCI still at least has more), and like you said…no cow smell! haha

wow people are complaining that its too hot in socal i can tell uve never lived anywhere else cuz its worse in nor cal. its so humid and hot up there that u have to have the AC on at night.

@ uctransferhope

YES! You Win!

Agreed. I hate the humid weather up here, it’s unbearable! At least in SoCal well SD I have the beach breeze going through! & I’m super tired of the whole fake people thing. That’s everywhere folks, just like gangs and bad people! You pick what you do and who you do it with.

live in Norcal
but Team So Cal
People (well some) always say that weather in Norcal is perfect ! I’m telling u weather here is torture
I have class from morning to late night so each day, I experience all 4 seasons in a nasty way. and an earlier poster mentions that he/she always get sick ! me too it’s easy to get sick here :(

If one recently concludes that worldwide recognition in a school would be a good thing when entering the market, which public school in California would one attend?

I decline to acquiesce to your request until I find out where I get accepted. :)
