NorCal vs. SoCal

im from NorCal, and i never get sick (havent been sick for 2+ years, knock on wood…). i would blame the foods you eat, not the area where you reside. and no good Mexican food places? have you ever been on Monument Blvd? its like little Mexico over there (right down to the ghetto-ness). try out La Pinata - open until 3am and you can get a huge burrito for around $6.

the weather up here is far from perfect, but torture is too extreme. and saying the weather in SoCal is perfect is a definite overstatement. it might get humid here (although i have never experienced humidity here that’s bad enough to complain about) but SD can get worse; when my sister went to UCSD, i remember visiting and noticing that from the highway to the beach the weather was great, but once you went more inland the weather was disgusting. AC on at night? ive only had to do that in SD (sister lived right next to the Gilman exit - bad side of the highway).

another thing - PEOPLE IN SOCAL DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE IN THE RAIN. its so bad its almost funny. when its dry, they can bail at 90 on the freeway, but once it rains, they are lost; i saw some lady straddling the white line that separates the lanes and the shoulder of the road going around 45 on the highway. and the rest are afraid to push their cars past 60. ridiculous.

^ I’ll give you the thing about driving in the rain. I can do it, but most San Diegans can’t. ha ha.

People get sick in Norcal from the mold, not from germs per se. It’s an allergic reaction. That Norcal mold has its advantages though-- it’s the active ingredient in sourdough bread. Ta-da.

Although I’m in the Socal camp (with the notable exception of LA, which is the very definition of a s**thole), I must take issue with the idea of a lack of Mexican food in Norcal. In West Berkeley there’s a great restaurant called “Juan’s Place”, the food is awesome. I used to live within walking distance-- good times, good times.

Also, the Mission Burrito is a legend and just across the bay from Cal.

No Carne Asada fries, though I’ve heard rumours and whispers of places (one in San Mateo comes to mind) that make crude attempts at replication.

Sports: Nor-Cal Vs. So-Cal who has better teams?

*Nor-Cal NFL= 49ers, Raiders
So-Cal NFL= Chargers

*Nor-Cal MLB= Giants, A’s
So-Cal MLB=Dodgers, Angels, Padres

Nor-Cal NBA=Warriors, Kings
*So-Cal NBA=Lakers, Clippers

*Nor-Cal NHL=Sharks
So-Cal NHL=Kings, Ducks

Nor-Cal wins it 3 to 2

angels have been better than giants or A’s in recent years

I’ve tried all those places and really, Mountain Blvd?! Ugh, my brother makes better food and he can barely cook an egg! Some places here in Berkeley are decent but let’s not go crazy, and NO carne asada fries! ):

As for driving in the rain, I don’t even like driving in general but I assure you my speed is well above limit, rain or dry. I guess I’m glad my older brothers taught me how to drive! ;D That’s also probably the reason why I hate driving up here, people barely go 60! ;/

Well, off to work!

Why would I pay to see the raiders, 49ers, giants, warriors, A’s, Kings…when I can pay to see the Dodgers and Lakers?

i keep seeing no carne asada fries in norcal, THATS NOT true, they have carne asada fries at Las Vegas Tacaqueria, one in milpitas, one in fremont, and others across the bay.

lint:

Because football is king in the U.S. and it doesn’t really get any better than the SF 49ers/Dallas Cowboys/Pittsburgh Steelers.

The dodgers may have won this last series, but overall giants still have them at this point. And yes I realize its still early but starting well means you’re more likely to end well.

They have carne asada fries, I know they do, but it’s not the same! Come to SD and tell me if they taste the same, HA! (:

I was just reading this thread and saw a post on the freeways.
I always thought everyone said on “the” 605 or other freeways?? This is not normal?? haha
(I’m from So-Cal)

I also think So-cal is the best because it has the best theme parks and seriously the best food places ever!!

screw the dodgers. They shouldn’t have won that last series. It was a fluke. And they had to do it cheaply and beam Aaron Rowand.

jcarrol, I could not agree more. And the dodgers don’t even know what to do with Tim Lincecum.

haha true. What Tim displayed the other night was pure ownage of everyone in So-Cal.

Seriously 3 RBIs for a pitcher? thats crazy. Plus he’s pretty much the nicest guy in the world.

bump as Cal decisions are nearing and our blood is pumping.

SoCal is still better. xD.

Oh and the Chargers are so much better than those two teams, so SoCal wins! ^__^;;

hahahaha the word Hella…takes all the points away from NorCal.

@ jane

dayummm!! oh no you di’unt! hahahah…but seriously…the word Hella is so amazing and I hear a bunch of SoCal people using it.
