I want to party, meet new people, have fun basically even though im going to be a sophmore.... are north people harder to be friend with since they are in established social groups already? i will be 21 and can buy alcohol and plan to party alot...

also, i plan on joining a frat

You’re a transfer right? I’ve heard that they place a lot of transfers in Odum because you get last priority for housing. If you’re going greek, I might suggest living in Granville. I think that it’s mostly freshmen, but it has the crazy party scene. If you’re planning on rushing, you’ll make plenty of friends anyway.

But people are always willing to make friends regardless of year. Some people make really good friends from their dorms, some don’t. It just depends on the people you end up with.

huh? my question was if people on north campus were generally less social because they are in more established groups…

I was just giving some advice about housing from my experience. I don’t know how likely you would be to get a room on north campus as a transfer. North campus is less social and more quiet, but it completely depends on who is on your hall. You could make friends with everybody or just see most people in the bathroom and not really talk.

im confused…why is south more social if they are suites, instead of the normal one where ur door opens to the hall??

Because there are so many freshmen. Generally everybody is trying to go out of their way to make friends. South campus RAs also tend to facilitate people meeting each other with food and activities a little more than north campus ones might. On north campus, people aren’t necessarily trying to make friends with everybody in their dorm in the same way. Generally on south campus, people become really close with a few of their suitemates and then have a good amount of other friends on their hall or floor.

Personally, I made literally one friend from my dorms this year. But I still have a good group of friends from other things so it’s not that big of a deal.
