North Carolina School of the Arts

APBroadway, that's good to know. So ballet, jazz and tap dancing are part of the acting major? How about singing? Do acting majors take regular voice lessons, as in "singing?"

Acting majors take singing with Greg Walter. He was my teacher in the summer program; in the summer program, however, not everyone had a lot of prior singing training so we started on a really basic level -- as in, some people could not even read music! Maybe private lessons are available during the year? But we did get individual time to sing by ourselves in front of the class and get feedback.

Just an FYI...DS got his letter of acceptance to NCSA on Thursday (for music...grad school performance). He spoke to someone in finaid who said those awards are not yet finalized and they will be sent sometime at the end of this coming week.

Has everyone who has been accepted, denied and waitlisted heard by now?

No, I still haven't heard anything, and I know of someone else who hasn't either.

D just called them, they sent her to Voicemail, which announced "all letters have now been mailed" ...but she has not received. Left message to that effect.

I called them too and heard that the letters where just sent and that I should get one by thursday. Anyone know how on par D&P is with CMU drama design?

Bumping this thread. I assume we'll hear from them around early April again this year?

Is anyone out there waiting to hear from NCSA this year, 2008?! If so, have you heard yet?

I'm waiting to hear from them .. So I called them on Thursday. They said they will start mailing letters out the week of March 17 and letters will continue to go out till the second week of April... I'm excited!!

It's interesting to think about WHY letters go out across a month-long period of time, rather than all at once. Anyway--Good luck to those who are waiting!

Any news from NCSA?

Not yet.. but I'm checking that mail box everyday.. It all comes down between East Carolina and NCARTS I've already been accepted into East Carolina.. I just have to decide 4 year college or conservatory.

A classmate of my D's said today she had been admitted to NCSA. I am not sure how they notified her.

NotMamaRose, was your D's classmate intending to pursue the BFA Acting?

Yes, she is. I know that at least two more of her classmates also auditioned there, but I am not sure if they have heard or not.

I contacted NCSA today and they informed me the letters were sent out a few days ago.

My son is in Studio two there and his training has been awesome.

NCSA however is very inconsistant in how it communicates with both prospective and accepted students- It can drive you crazy!

ha ha this is funny
The day before he got his acceptance, we got a packet from housing!!! I figured he was in , but didn't tell him till he got the letter!!

No letter today :-( Maybe Monday....the wait is driving me crazy indeed.

Thanks for calling, Broadwaybelter! I wonder if they sent out ALL the letters (that is, to everyone who applied) or just SOME of the letters (for example, to those who have been accepted). Anyway, my son is waiting for some word from NCSA, too, and nothing has arrived.
