North Carolina State University Decisions(Fall 2017) Class of 2021

@eaglemom2014 Your son also seems like an even better candidate than my child! I cannot believe he was deferred also. I wish your son the best of luck- he has some great choices!

@annamanna hmmm…unsure. He applied EA for the Engineering major only and was deferred? Other friends of his had much lower GPA’s and test scores than him and got into NCSU BUT with other majors. It is not the end of the world, just a surprise is all. Given he is 'in-state" it says a lot about NC students then- they are very bright. He had scholarships from every other choice on his list and admitted to the Engineering major at each of his alternate choices. Maybe he should have taken the ACT instead but he only took the SAT once and made 1420 (new SAT; 720 out of 800 on Math alone). His GPA is 3.9 so maybe that hurt him in the end but he also takes the most rigorous classes at his school. It works out better for us financially, he will have more money in scholarships out of state making it cheaper to go with out of state tuition than in-state in North Carolina!

My son was accepted at VA tech. so he got in to 4 out of the 5 he applied to - only one that he was waitlisted at was NC State. It seems sad that he wants to leave NC to get his education but VA tech is his top choice. We will try to wait until End of March to make our final decision but NC is not looking good.

@eaglemom2014 Congratulations on VT Tech! S is still waiting to hear. He’s also 4 out of 5 so far (applying to all engineering programs): Texas A&M, University of Florida, University of Central Florida, and GMU. Instead of deferring S, NC State chose to place S in the University Studies Program – so he declined. Once he hears back from VA Tech, S will be ready with his decision. Finances play a key role. No scholarship $ from A&M, U of F. Generous award from UCF. Small but not insignificant award from GMU.

@VABogart Did he check his VA tech Guest account? 1st rounds of regular decisions where put out on Feb 20. Next round is march 17. Good luck to your Son!

Thanks @eaglemom2014. Yes, S was part of that big VT applicant crowd that worked the site for 3-4 hours before he found out it would be March 17th. At this point, not a much longer wait.

Your decision: I don’t know yet. I have been accepted to UIUC and VTech so its kinda a tough choice. I am waiting to hear from all the colleges including the financial packages before I make a final decision. Congratulations to all accepted

My daughter was deferred from EA to regular decision. Does anyone know what the chances are when you are deferred? We are out of state.

Decision: Accepted
Major: Animal Science
Residency: OOS (FL)
ACT: 34 (36R, 32M, 35W, 34S)
GPA: 5.00
Your decision: Not sure. Waiting on financial aid and other decisions.

EDIT: I was a Park Scholarship Finalist, but I was not selected as a Park Scholar, so it is unlikely I will go unless I get really great aid.

Hey guys, a have a couple of questions to ask.

  1. Does anyone know when the regular decisions will be posted? (Hopefully earlier than the 30th)
  2. What is the average acceptance rate for those (unlucky) deferred students?
Any comment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just saw this on Twitter. https://mobile.twitter.com/NCStateCNR/status/844257404732788737?s=04

I predict they will release decisions at 4:50pm this Friday.

I just called admissions and they said decisions will not be released until March 30th.

I will be shocked if they wait until March 30. UVA released their Wednesday, which was early. State has a history of releasing them earlier than scheduled.

Are they sending email or package?

Watch your wolfpaw portal. They also posted the fact that decisions are released on Twitter.

Where do you see that on Twitter. The one is aeen said it would be the 30th…I wish they woukd just announce it and get it over with.

This Tweet is even more encouraging…
