Yeah I checked too. Poopsicles.

I just checked my portal for the first time since I was deffered (I applied EA) and it said that my application was no longer active. Should I be worried?

So I finally broke down and made an account here. I’ve been lurking and waiting and biting my nails with all of you the past couple weeks. But NEU is the only University that hasn’t given me a decision yet, and it’s driving me absolutely insane :[

Quick stats
Transfer Applicant
Computer Science Major
College GPA: 3.8 (only 6 class credits and 2 CLEPs though)
6 Year US Navy Veteran with 5 years of Software Development Experience in Operational and R&D environments
EC’s: Piano, Singing, Acting, Community Service, Eagle Scout…

I’ve got two very strong recommendations (Navy LCDR and a PHD from Johns Hopkins), and I wrote my essay on my choice to join the military, hold off on college, and why I’m ready to tackle my degree now.

I also have what are called ACE credits, which are basically credits that many colleges will award me for some of my military schools. I believe NEU considers these for admission and placement, but the do not consider them for awarding credits.

Anyone know vets at NEU or what my chances are?

I’m actualy kind of angry that I need to wait another week. It doesn’t seem fair that some applicants got to accidentally receive their decision early. Are they really still making decisions throughout these next 7 days?

The biggest thing for me is that i’m waiting for the decision before I actually go visit the college. I’m not going to spend $500-600 to visit boston and then not get in. But the longer this takes, the less time I have to visit and contemplate where I want to go.

It’s becoming less about getting in and more about getting a yes/no just so i can move on with my life…

I’m right there with you. My spring break week is the 25-29th and is the only time I can visit all my colleges. I thought I would have time to plan my visits, but I guess I’ll either have to book flights and hotels very last minute, or not visit at all.

@GregoryPanic when did you apply? I’m pretty sure transfers are being dealt with differently (ie rolling admissions)

Ah yeah I applied as a transfer applicant. I realized immediately after posting that I should have posted it in the transfer topic. All of their date timelines are seriously inconsistent. Every time I get a timeline from someone they say something completely different.

“We started transfer rolling admissions feb 1st”
“Our first set of transfer admissions start early march”
“Transfer admissions will be released mid-late march”

all things i’ve been told.

As for doing your college visits, double check for friends, family, friends of family, friends of friends, friends/family of a friends family, that might let you couch surf. The flight is gonna cost you a pretty penny, and accommodations in boston aren’t cheap…

Great advice! I didn’t even think of that. I live in Colorado, but 3 people transfered into my senior class this year who all lived in Boston… weird right?

Admission office told me that the decision would be released by April 1. I was told that only decisions for international students were released earlier. I told them that we knew at least two domestic students received the acceptance several weeks ago. I was told that it is a different class of people. This does not make me feel good. NEU looks attractive on scholarship promise. NEU is one of my child’s top choices. I just don’t like the fact that I don’t get a straight answer and I don’t like the answer such as “different class”. I am now considering just spend 60K a year to send my child to IVY league. At least these is an early action offer with little(close to none) financial aid…

Different class? Ugh. That’s pretty offputting. We’re still waiting as well although given what I’ve heard about financial assistance and also the existence of the “in program” option, other schools are seeming more attractive at this point. We’ll see of course.

Got accepted!
I received an e-mail today that my decision was available. Yay!!

When are decisions coming out? I was deffered early action, which I thought was strange. I was certain I’d get into my safety school :/

@studied4sat
Are u an international student? Were u deferred EA?

Congratulations, studied4sat. I’d love to know the same - if you were deferred or an RD candidate?

Still haven’t heard-I applied RD.

Most likely next Thursday.
Ugh
I’m probably gonna waste the entire day at the gym, for EA I didn’t get my letter until 9:30

Nope, I’m actually a student who was born, raised, and lives in New York. I’m a transfer study who currently attends Penn State. I’m not too sure if I could attend since NEU is very expensive even though I got a $7,500 scholarship.

Why are they taking so long? Some students are getting decisions while others aren’t…

@falco - I think it’s rolling decisions, no one from my school has heard yet, so I think it depends on a bunch of things. Hopefully we’ll get responses soon. :)

Transfers are rolling decisions, top candidates hear early, and all other RD will most likely hear around March 21.
