Asking this question for a friend who got into both and received a scholarship of $19,000/year from NEU and $28,000/year from Clark. He hasn't declare his major yet, however, he is leaning toward Health Science, Engineer or Business. May 1 is approaching and he needs to make a decision. Which school would you recommend, and why?

I live in Worcester, and seriously... it cannot compare to Boston. I mean this in the sense that living there is a whole lot less interesting, and that there are a lot less opportunities. Northeastern has a HUGE co-op program, and offers so many programs right in the city. There simply aren't that many programs to be offered here in Worcester. If money is a huge factor, then Clark is a great school. But if you consider other things, I think Northeastern is the clear choice.

Thanks, Hopeful. Are you attending NEU?

Clark is a great school, particularly for more academic/research-oriented/LAC-style majors. But your interestes sound like they're oriented toward majors that stress practical experience and are skills-oriented. These are Northeastern's strenghts. I'd do some research into the departments that you're interested in, but NE sounds like a good fit.

Yes, I am going to NEU. But I'm doing engineering, and therefore didn't apply to Clark, so I'm not speaking from experience with choosing between them. I know someone else who immediately discounted Northeastern, but kept Clark on her maybe list for a long time, and she lives here too. So it's definitely to each his own.
