I could have sworn when I started filling out the Common App for Northeastern University that there was a prompt “elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities” under the Activity tab, but now I can’t find it. Has anyone else had this problem?
Apparently, they made an executive decision to get rid of it so it’s no longer part of the application. It never existed until this year so if I had to speculate, they probably didn’t see much value from it in the applications they saw so far. Either way, it’s no longer there but sorry for any confusion! They didn’t do a good job communicating the recent change
It was there last weekend when my son submitted his application.
Yes, it was removed within the past week.
I was there yesterday and they said that they removed it due to the fact that it was “unecessarily stressing students out” and that kids were “treating it as a full essay” and that wasn’t what they had intended, so they removed it. This is the Dean of Undergraduate Admissions that was saying this. She also said that if any of the students wanted to still submit their activities essay despite the space for it being gone, they could submit it after applying. Once you apply you get a Northeastern account/dashboard to track your application/financial aid. Apparently there is a spot there to send additional information such as a resume or the activities supplement. Hope this helps!
