@fingercrossed After looking at old threads, they start to release decisions around the end of April, usually on a Friday, between 4-5pm EST, in waves. (This is my dream school so I’ve kinda stalked previous transfer threads) They try to accept as many as possible before releasing denials. We have to get the decision by June 1st for deposit deadlines
@pink418 @Fudgerino thank you two a lot. I
Does anyone know which criterion NEU focus on most for transfer admission?
What are the chances with a 3.1 gpa …? It’s the gpa after first semester of sophomore year
Are there special math requirements to transfer to NU? Just got denied to a school for not taking Algebra II//Trigonometry/Calculus yet. Didn’t find anything on NU’s website regarding it or the school I was rejected from.
@TransferFall2018 look at their undergrad admission requirements. You have to meet those in order for them to admit you as a transfer student. They would like to see calculus whether you took it in HS or college
@ewang97 They do look at HS gpa and extracurricular as well as internships and jobs but both BU and Northeastern say 3.3+ college gpa gets you in the transfer pool
Hey all! Happy to join the bandwagon and spend the next few months talking with you all.Does anybody know if Northeastern does rolling decisions? Does it change anything if I send my app now instead of say, 15/25 days down the line?
I’m applying as incoming sophomore (currently freshman). For the GPA, do BU and Northeastern average first semester (3.2) and second-semester mid-term gpa? That’d be the only way to go above 3.3
@Alex301 I believe it’s only first semester and then they ask for your second semester midterm grades later on
I don’t think they will ask midterm grades. Usually it is stated on their website if they ask midterm grades. I guess that with special cases some candidates would receive that request if they were torn between admitting him or not
I’ve submitted my application. Good luck everybody. Fingers crossed.
I’ll see you all on the other side, yeah?
I am submitting my application this week just have to send in transcripts.
Major: Psychology
Transferring from a California Community College
College GPA: 3.80
High School GPA: 3.5 weighted , 3.2 unweighted
SAT (do not not have to submit have taken 53 semester credits)
Academic Honors: Presidents List (2x)
Extracurricular Activites: Publications (Yearbook)
2 Letters of Recommendation (both from Professors in my Major)
Ethnicity: Cuban
How do my chances look to you guys?
Also quick question, I thought that you have to send in your high school transcript regardless if you have more than 24 credits? On their transfer application checklist, it does not mention that you have the choice not to send it in.
@mag3646 You can still have a good chance of getting in. You are a computer science major so I am assuming your course load is rigorous, therefore, they will definitely take that into account when looking at your overall college gpa. If you got a good SAT/ACT I would defenitely report those scores it can only help you.
@Kimmy1011 you have to send in your HS transcripts regardless but only have to send in your ACT/SAT if you have completed less and 24 college credit hours.
While we all submit our applications, I think we should all reflect on everything. All you’ve done in your life led up to this exact moment. You’re probably stressing out about everything, but every once in a while, sit back and kick back, look up at the ceiling and be proud of yourself for all you’ve accomplished and what you’re going to accomplish wherever you go.
Hello everyone!
I just submitted my application yesterday, but I would still like someone to chance me!
Applying for Fall 2018 as a Human Services & Sociology major
State: Connecticut
HS Type: Medium/Large public? (Had over 300 in my graduating class)
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: Lower/middle class
Hooks: First generation college student
High School GPA: 4.0 weighted (Top 10% of class)
College GPA: 3.7
I currently attend a Connecticut Community College. I graduated with an A.A. in Multimedia Spring 2017, but I honestly just graduated to finish the degree. I have no interest in majoring in multimedia anymore for a bachelor’s degree. I stayed an extra year to do more general ed classes (I started Fall 2015 at CC, and will finish in Spring 2018), as a lot of my classes were art based.
I will not be submitting SATs since after this semester I will have 88 credits! (I know Northeastern will only accept 60-65 credits so I will lose about 20-25, which were from my Multimedia major)
Fall 2017 Courses - 12 credits
Film Study & Appreciation
Racial and Ethnic Diversity
Ethics
Introduction to Anthropology
Spring 2018 Courses - 12 credits
American Government
Sociology of the Family
Modern Western Literature
Industrial & Organizational Psychology
I’ve been working 30 hours a week since 2016 and will also begin an internship that is 5-10 hours a week this year, which means I could potentially be working up to 40 hours a week.
I’m also considering enrolling in one or two summer courses this year.
Extracurriculars:
Habitat for Humanity (at my college)
Mentor at Boys & Girls Club (will be switching departments to start an internship)
Heifer Farm three day program
Unfortunately, I have not been able to be a part of most extracurricular activities at my college anymore due to my work schedule.
Honors:
Phi Theta Kappa
Dean’s List
Thanks if anyone can give me feedback!!!
@hopeful112, it looks like you have a great chance of getting in… your hard work is about to pay off soon.
Hi!!
I’m applying as a sophomore to NEU. really nervous !!
Current school: San Diego State University
I’m in the honors program that only accepts 300/8000 students, so I’m hoping that looks good on my resume.
College GPA: 3.9
Extracurriculars: my school doesn’t have too many clubs that interested me so I just joined the Green Love commission and the French Club!
Major: Accounting- I’m applying to the D’amore McKim school of business which is super competitive.
Got a rec letter from my RWS professor, wasn’t close with him but it was my smallest class so he knew me by name and I went into his office hours/exchanged emails a lot throughout the semester. Finished with an A- in his class which he said was outstanding bc he’s particular with his essays.
High school GPA: 3.97
Extracurriculars: a lot, I don’t know if I should list them in my activities center since I did them in high school, not college? What is everyone else doing?
ACT: 30, I’m not sure if I’m sending them in yet… By the time I finish this semester I will have taken 30 credits.
I just wanted to ask what everyone was including in their personal statement. I didn’t delve too deep into the reasons I don’t like SDSU because I didn’t want to come off negative. I just wrote about my values/goals and linked them with NEU and their co-op programs. Any thoughts?
to add: I’m interning for KPMG this summer in Paris for two months! Definitely added that in my essay to go along with NEU’s co-op programs.
