I went to my registrar and had them fill out my form and give me an envelope with my school’s logo on it and used the good old-fashioned fire-and-forget with the mailbox. It usually takes a while to get to the school and even then, they’re probably under a severe backlog because of all the slackers who are submitting their applications at the deadline. xP
If you’re really concerned, call them and asked if they received it! You’re probably fine though!
@yankeebanger I called them to ask if it needed to be sent directly from my school. They told me I could have it fill it out by a school official and email it to them if I preferred that method. It does not have to be send directly from the school official.
@yankeebanger I emailed my NEU counselor about TOEFL waiver and she said “While your citizenship, country in which your high school was located, and your high school’s language of instruction, are not enough to satisfy our English proficiency requirements on their own, all will be taken into consideration by the admissions counselor evaluating your application. In some instances, our admissions committee will waive the requirement when confident in an individual student’s English abilities. A waiver is never guaranteed, however, which is why the admissions committee recommends either taking an English language proficiency examination, or taking an exam again if your results do not meet the minimum requirements.” I just mentioned I had my three year high school in Boston and two year college for now in Connecticut, and ask she whether can waive my TOEFL requirement now. And then I got this reply. Do you mind that tell me who you “ask” and what you said about this? Thanks!
I want to waive the TOEFL requirement if it is possible. On school’s website, I saw that the English language proficiency can be waived if student have spent 4 years in US. I see that you guys received my college and high school transcript. I have graduated high school in the US and now studying at a public university in New York as a sophomore student. It’s been 6 years since I moved to US. Also, I completed two college composition courses with the grades of “B” and “A” respectively.
This is the response I got 2 days later:
Thank you for your email! The admissions committee has reviewed your application and waived the English Proficiency requirement. Please note that this will take about 24 hours to be reflected on your Application Status Check.
After their email, they removed my TOEFL requirement in less than 24 hours. I still didn’t understand why your counselor said “While your citizenship, country in which your high school was located, and your high school’s language of instruction, are not enough to satisfy our English proficiency requirements on their own.” Like didn’t you graduate high school in the US??? What did she mean by saying that? Also, I didn’t understand anything her second reply. I suggest you directly email to international office maybe or try to be more clear with your counselor. Because I dont’ see why they don’t waive the requirement for you.
@yankeebanger Thanks you a lot!!! I graduated from an American high school and completed this semester in college will count me studying in US as five years. I think I will email to international admission office and see what they reply me then. Hope my TOEFL requirement can be waived.

@simonlee7 Here’s the way I see it. Your HS GPA (assuming that’s unweighted), shows that you stood out among your peers in high school. If it’s weighted, you still sound like an amazing individual with your outstanding extracurriculars. Your college GPA shows that you went up against fellow college students and not only handled the workload, but excelled.
The way I see it, college admissions at top universities are a crapshoot. People always ask for the chances they have, but really, it’s a toss-up because there’s so many awesome candidates. However, looking at the stuff you can bring to the table, I really think that you’re going to be fine.
@WordSmithNY I’m not sure what you know about football, but one of my favorite moments ever was Sean Payton ordering a surprise onside kick to begin the second half of the Super Bowl on a whim.
The Saints got the ball and they marched down the field to score against the Colts and later win the game. Some of our best moments come from when we do stuff on a whim.

Hey, just wondering if anyone here applying for Bouve College. I am applying for Pharmacy and heard that the chance is super low. I’m so nervous right now, but good luck everybody.
Hey Guys,
I applied to Communication studies as an undergrad transfer. NEU is a reach so I’m really nervous, but this is my top choice because of the co-op program and many, many other factors of course. I submitted a portfolio and feel that both my portfolio and personal essay were strong!
I see everyone posting stats so I’ll post mine:
Current second semester freshman
3.62 college GPA (1st semester)
1220 SAT
3.4 HS GPA
Dean’s List
I am a published author
Wrote for my HS and college newspaper
involvement in HS includes: President of anti-bullying club & Community service club, Swim team captain, editor of the newspaper, volunteer work, etc.
I honestly don’t know my chances of getting in and was wondering if there are others who applied to Comm. Studies out there and if anyone wants to comment on what they believe my chances are seriously feel free, I like to hear the truth
Good luck to all of you (us) fingers crossed!!!
