No thread here just for us waitlings... I'm interested in other people's stats and what programs they applied to, as well as a shoulder to cry on. I have a 32 on the ACT and a 3.4/3.9 GPA UW/W and some pretty good ECs/Recs IMO (service abroad, BOE rep, near-full time job, academic research, etc...). I applied to the Computer Science with a concentration in Cyber Operations program. Look forward to hearing from some of you guys!

@reallyworriedkid, you’re not alone. My son was also waitlisted with a 34 ACT and similar GPA (don’t know exact number). He also applied to the CS department and was a legacy. That major must have been particularly competitive so kids like you that would have gotten in to a different major were waitlisted for CS. Just a theory though since we’re still scratching our heads over the decision.

On the competitiveness of CS, I would say that is probably correct. I have a 34 (35 Math and Science sections) ACT, 3.8 W GPA, all the hardest classes, good recs/essay, and got in EA applying CS. I think the one difference maker was that I have an internship at a software company under my belt. Also, I notice that collegedadnh is from the Northeast, are you as well reallyworriedkid? I am from Florida, so I am sure geographical diversity may have helped my case as well.

Long story short, Northeast Location + CS certainly looks like a valid explanation to me, and I wish you both the best of luck!
