Northeastern University Scholars Program

I imagine that the offer is being made to more than 50 applicants. In the black box of estimating yield, they may offer the program to 100 applicants expecting a 50% yield for example. Full tuition scholarships are hard to turn down but do not guarantee that an invited student will actually enrol.

According to the website, NU has 105 National Merit Scholars in the freshman class. I imagine various schools are competing for these students with offers, so getting a free ride isn’t a guarantee of enrollment if other colleges are offering something similar.

Having haunted this place for most of my application process, only now have I been compelled to participate.

Earlier this month I received a NU Scholars Program, and was quite mystified. I have a feeling that a lot will be explained on the weekend I will be attending.

This is my acceptence letter with a paragraph about the Scholars program. I just got in 2 days ago.

On behalf of Northeastern University, I am pleased to offer you admission to the 115th entering class and to The University Honors Program. Further, in recognition of your exceptional scholastic and personal achievements, I am delighted to invite you to join the Northeastern University Scholars Program-a new program we believe will be the most intellectually bold and distinguished undergraduate scholarship program in the country.

The Northeastern University Scholars Program is a full tuition scholarship program limited to 50 incoming undergraduates who, like you, have not only distinguished themselves in academics but have displayed an entrepreneurial approach to study, achievement, involvement, and life. Individuals invited to join this program have demonstrated curiosity and creativity that extend far beyond the classroom to impact the world around them. The program is intended to meet the interests of students who demand to be challenged, are passionate about learning, and will innovate when given the freedom to explore.
