@royalace I have a unique situation: unfortunately I applied and was accepted without financial aid, my family was undergoing extenuating financial circumstances which is the reason I deferred my enrollment and the reason they accepted my deferment. One of my parent’s got into a major car accident and there was lots of surgery and insurance claims so I had to apply for financial aid at a later time and report those circumstances. Still waiting to hear on my aid package but if it’s any help to you, I applied to BC and I’d say that they covered close to the cost, minus my expected family contribution from the FAFSA and maybe like two thousand in loans. I want to assume Northeastern’s package would be comparable. Then again, BC’s endowment is almost 4 times as large as Northeastern’s and transfer funds are generally smaller than funds set up for freshman. My girlfriend who was accepted (although to a specific program at Northeastern) has to cover around 20,000 in tuition for year 1, plus room & board.
Does anyone know when will NU be releasing admission decisions? Best of luck to everyone!
@peruvian2221215 According to previous threads they release them in waves starting the end of April, but everyone will hear back by June 15th.
Does anyone know if we could hear back before May 1st? Because my commitment day for other schools is then, and I don’t know what to do!
@kbot9929 There’s a slim chance but we’re not guaranteed to hear back until June 15th. You can always submit a deposit to another school and then withdraw from that school is Northeastern ends up working out, it would just mean losing your deposit… I’m in the same situation so I’m hoping at least one of my other schools gets back to me before May 1st…
What should I do if my college does not give out midterm grades? I know that NU “strongly recommend” students to submit midterm grades but literally, there are no grades posted by my professors yet.
@hopefull7890 I personally wouldn’t worry too much about that?
I didn’t send mine either because two of my professors didn’t enter them and one of my grades is poor (cause we only had one quiz that was worth 10% of the final grade…) but if your professors haven’t posted the grades yet it’s not your fault and I don’t know if there’s really anything you can do about it…
I’m in the same boat as you guys, I’ve been accepted into RPI, Union College, and UMass Amherst so far, and Union College’s deposit deadline is May 1st, and RPI is the 10th. I’ve heard it is possible that Northeastern sends out the first wave of decisions before that, but worst case scenario I’ll have to put money down on one of these schools before I hear from Northeastern.
@hopefull7890 There is a form available on the Common App where you professors give your current grade and sign it, called the mid term report. That is what I submitted to my schools.
Here’s a link to the form from Brandeis University, but it is the same form everywhere. http://www.brandeis.edu/admissions/apply/Mid%20Term%20Report.pdf
So as you guys may or may not know, I was accepted to Northeastern last cycle and deferred my enrollment. I just received an email today that they are updating my portal as well as for other deferred enrollment students, and it could take until April 26th. I’m going to assume that a wave of you may hear your admission decision around that time and then the rest after that? Good luck everybody!
Would you guys rather pick BU or NU
Could you share what your stats were? @financeguy29
@snickerdoodle123 I applied to both, but I’d rather be at NU. I love their co-op, campus, student body, and really just everything else. They also have a better program for my major. AND they would offer me way more financial aid than BU. The only thing that concerns me is housing, because I have no way of getting to Boston to look at apartments
@AC1139 Thank you so much!
I just called to deal with some other issues with my portal and all they gave me in terms of decisions was “for sure by June 15, but historically it has been earlier than that”
I wonder if they are releasing in waves this year…
I’m just going to be in a constant state of stress till I hear back, like I’m so nervous. It’s also really hard to make plans in regards to housing if I don’t know where I’m transferring to. I just want to get into Northeastern so badly…
@dogsrcool I’m on the same page!!! I really wish I could go to Northeastern
When are we going to hear back!!!1
Good luck everyone! I think last year people started hearing back in early May through June 15
