@shelm98 If what everyone is saying is accurate, the trend seems to be every two weeks they release waves. They didn’t release anything this past Friday (from my understanding), so I assume this Friday the 5th should be another wave.
First wave came 1 week after the April 15th deadline, giving them time to evaluate applications that may have had documents added to them before the deadline.
Don’t be too upset if there won’t be another wave this week.
(Hopefully there will be)
Does anyone have a general idea of how much financial aid I could possibly recieve? My EFC for FAFSA was 000000 and my average grades so far have been in the A/B range. Is NEU generous with financial aid?
@koreanincali I was wondering about this too! If I didn’t apply to financial aid, would I still be eligible for scholarships? I’m also an international student, so I’m not sure how that’d affect things.
Also does anyone know if transfer students get admitted to honor programs?
I’m so nervous for Friday guys, does anyone know if they’ll send an email or will it just be up?
@PixelTomato I’m pretty sure you’d still be able to recieve some type of scholarship if your grades are good! And as for admissions, I’ve heard mixed things. Some get an email but they send them out after they post the decisions online so it’d be faster for you to just check your email throughout the day I think? Not 100% sure but thats what I’ve heard
@koreanincali Thanks! I was just wondering how we’d know. I know some colleges send an email beforehand saying they’ll release decisions on a certain day and time but I’m not sure about NEU so I thought I’d ask! I really hope that I’ll hear back from them soon… Maybe Friday? I’m hopeful that I’ll get in >.< if I get accepted its probably where I’m going to go. I love the co-op opportunities and that it has great resources for premed individuals…uaaaghhhh so nervous!
where do u find on-campus housing options?
@PixelTomato international students are not eligible for financial aid at Northeastern. Exceptions are merit based scholarships for international students (extremely competitive) which are given out at the time of admission. If you don’t get a financial aid package letter together with your admissions letter, you can’t get any aid…
As for decisions, I happened to check my application status the moment they uploaded my decision, and I got an email notification the same minute. That was on the 21st.
@hegann00 alright, I just wanted to clarify! Do you know what the requirements are to be considered for merit based scholarships?
@PixelTomato They only ever said they were considering the top xy% of their application pool. I tried to get them to give me some more information, and they kept telling me that they were looking for GPA, standardized scores, extracurricular achievements, and how many AP/college level classes the student took. I knew from that that my chances weren’t good, as in Switzerland we neither have SATs, nor clubs/orgs in school to give students a chance to do things for their community, nor levelled courses (all courses are mandatory presets and there are no difficulty levels to chose from). But looking at your stats you might have very good chances of getting some merit scholarship money!
@PixelTomato
Here is a link to scholarships offered by NEU https://studentfinance.northeastern.edu/applying-for-aid/undergraduate/types-of-aid/scholarships/
@hegann00 Thank you for explaining everything with such clarity and detail! I was looking at their scholarships but wasn’t sure what the requirements were to be qualified for them. It makes sense what you said concerning the hollistic review though! @Iapplyanywhere thanks for the link but I’ve looked through them already (:
Hey guys if we hear back tomorrow around what time do you think they’ll tell us
@redpucca last wave was at 4, I believe. So anytime around there is probable.
ahhh I hope I find out tomorrow
same ^^^ i’m so nervous to find out but I want to hear back soon!!!
@Calliefornia20 did you apply and get into BU? i thought i saw you on the BU thread haha
Does anyone know when they send out rejections? Would that be tomorrow too?
I just read on the Facebook group that someone called housing. Apparently they said transfer housing is full as of now??
@transfer332 do transfer students have a separate building they live in?
