Northeastern vs UFlorida

I got into the Bachelors of Science in International Business program at Northeastern compared to Finance at UF and I was wondering in general what degree would get me the furthest and possibly into a better MBA program in 2-4 years. I intend on learning a foreign language and at NEU I would most likely get a dual degree from NEU and a European school.

I'm just wondering how on earth International Business could be a science. It's just amazing.

Maybe memorizing the definition of globalization, international trade, and giving an presentation on how Nike overuse sweatshop, could be really scientific!

Pretty much the individual schools decide and do whatever they want.

Maybe you should look up the definition of science first my child. You'll realize how much of a fool you are, but then again intelligence defined in your terms is which major you CHOOSE.

As entertaining as flaming each other can be, I'm still looking for some opinions on my original post.

Dawgie, maybe you should be the one looking at the definition. I know it well. Very well. Science refers to a system of acquiring knowledge based on the scientific method. Do you know what that means? I'm not suprised a foolish man like yourself don't. But learn.

Maybe accounting and finance is to a certain extent, but international business. Please don't make fun of yourself. I hope no one you know search up this topic in Google and realize how stupid you are.

Tell any scientist... i mean artsies... or just anyone you see on the street! I just can't imagine what their face would be like if you tell them international business is a science! lol.

I'm not your child, btw.

Dawgie is right. Possibly you should further look into what a BS is and how it differes from a BA. Graduating with a BS in no way means you took a scientific major. A BS can refer to a quantative major, a career oriented major, it is a degree that can be obtained rather than a BA becuase more math classes are required, or more general education classes, etc.

I'm not looking for a comparison of the science vs. arts but rather a BSIB degree from NU compared to finance from UF.

you dont have much experience in the business subforum. It is better to go somewhere were your questions can actually be answered, such as the college search area. But my personal preference would have to be UF due to price, which in your case is an unknown, the fact that they have a great social life (no co-op requirments), the large alumni base and fame (how well the school is known) due to its academics and sports

I think everybody is misreading what I originally stated. I'm just wondering for MBA programs whether International Business with the co-op, overseas degree, and other benefits from NU would be better or worse than Finance from UF if NU will be $60k more.

I don't know anything about the Northeastern or the program you speak of, so I'll let others address that.

But I would recommend looking further into UF, especially if you want to work in Florida after you graduate. It's a good school, and a good program. They're plugging a lot of money into the b-school right now. UF has a great regional rep, and huge, passionate alumni base. And remember, Gators always win.

UF certainly sends students to top MBA programs, but only a very small percentage of graduates make it into such programs.

A few other things to consider.
UF is a huge school. Even by large state schools standards its truly gigantic. This type of environment is not for everyone. The good news is theres a social niche for everyone, but its easy to get lost in the sea, as they say.

The campus is kind of neat.

Gainesville is not Boston. It's not even a charming college town. It's pretty dumpy. But its still a good place to be a student. Lots of bars, tons of restaurants, pretty cool downtown, great weather. Also your dollars will go a little further in Gainesville than the in the Northeast.

And if your into the sports scene, UF is obviously as good as it gets. SEC football is something special.

There is a guy on the MBA forum (tomslawsky) who is currently getting his MBA from UF. Perhaps you could message him if you have further questions.

my mistake, i didnt even see MBA
