applying early decision, is anybody else a national merit semifinalist? anyone know if this will have any effect?
Applied for Weinberg in Biology! So pumped. Getting anxious about the decision already… Oh well.
Does anybody know if alumni interviewers have access to our applications? I want to touch on some key aspects of myself and my application (activities, essays) but I want to know if the interviewer is already familiar with my application/file so that I can know if I should introduce the activities and ideas I discussed or build off further from what was already in my application.
i don’t think they do
@senioritisls As a member of the NU Alumni Admission Council (NU-AAC) who just conducted an ED interview, no we are not privy to your transcript, test scores, application essays, etc. All we receive is your contact info and current high school. Every interviewer has their own style, so there really no way to prep other than to relax, be yourself and be able to articulate why you are a great fit for NU. I always strive to make the applicant come alive in my write up and will ask my interviewee what can I share with Admissions that they don’t already know about you. One last common sense piece of advice - when you’re contacted by an alum, respond ASAP. I had no response for 2 days after I emailed my most recent candidate for an ED interview. Giving them the benefit of doubt that maybe my email ended up in spam, I texted them to schedule an interview. Another 2 days went by before I heard back. I can tell you, it did not create a favorable first impression of someone eager to attend and left me to wonder if they really were that interested in Northwestern.
Thank you @10isMOM I had my interview yesterday at a local coffee shop and it was very relaxed and the conversation flowed really well. Thanks for the insight!
really? i always thought it was the 15th
counting down the days lol
Applied early decision for biomedical engineering
@Noelanimb it seems like the past two years they said it was going to come out on the 15th and then it came out on the 14th. i feel like this year since the 15th is a friday they’ll just wait for it but idk
39 days until we hear back…I’m already so nervous
What factors into whether or not you get an interview from someone? I’m kinda anxious because I’ve been hearing about a lot of kids getting emails to be interviewed, and its been almost a week and I have not gotten one yet. I’m just worried that it’s because only really prospective students get called up for interviews, and that the fact that i have not means that the university doesn’t consider me apart of this category.
who gets an interview is literally only about geographic location and if there’s alumni in your area
i just got a text from an interviewer asking to set up an interview. she said she had emailed me before, but i never got an email… i explained that it must have gone to spam.
do you think this will reflect badly on me that i didnt see the email?
After reading the alumni interviewer’s comments earlier in this thread, it seems like that happens pretty often. As long as you apologize again in person at the interview you should be fine.
if I was going to be asked to do an alumni interview would that have already happened by now? or are people still getting asked?
When my interviewer reached out to me for the first time, she asked when would work for me between Nov 1 and Nov 12 so I’m not sure if that was a deadline or just a preference.
I applied ED to the School of Communications… I was lucky enough to get to meet with the Dean at the end of the summer so I didn’t sign up for an alumni interview… Soooo nervous for the results to come out though!
we have just about a week and a month left, I feel like I can’t wait that long. If I get deferred I might die
@swimninja @purplejulia @Noelanimb To answers some questions posed here - Interviews are totally optional. You have to request for an interview through Admissions and they in turn route your request to the local chapter of the Alumni Admission Council (if there is one). For ED candidates, completed interviews must be submitted to Admissions by November 12th, hence the deadline for scheduling (although Nov 12th is cutting it close). To all who’ve inquired about interviews, please don’t obsess over this. It is the least important aspect of your application for admission. And to those of you who know you are not strong interviewees, I highly recommend skipping the interview altogether as its not mandatory. I’ve had interviews with prospective students who were anxious, nervous, uncomfortable, inarticulate, etc who did not come off well. Under those circumstances, you’re better off passing.
Does anyone know if Northwestern accepts rush SAT scores?
