Not a fan of the deep-dish pizza, but Chicago is definitely gorgeous :) I loved it!

yea...it's snowing at the moment. I haven't seen snow for so long -- it's a little odd how it's snowing up, hehe.

I assume that the interviews for HPME are done. Buckwald, can you please post the final stats for the 2005 freshmen HPME class. How many applied, how many received the forms, how many were called for the interview, and how many would be accepted? Another note, everyone here says that the interview was laid back etc. etc. Is the selection based onthe interview? What is the basis of the selection?? Thanks for the info.

According to a student interviewer- slightly over 1000 filled out the form, 850 received supplimental apps., from 120-140 were invited for an interview, and about 45-50 of us will be accepted. The selection is based on the interview, and if they are unsure they will look back at your file.

i love HPME soooo much. When do we find out??? Would anyone not go if they got in?

i would consider not going...depends on what other schools offer.

Last year, a friend of mine found out on March 28th, I don't know the exact date you will find out this year.

They told me I will get an email on the 1st of April.. :)

out of curiosity, which interviewers did you guys get : )?

Do you know how they decide?

Well, if you get an interview...its bases purely on the interview. You've already shown that you're academically capable. The interview is to see if you're actually into the profession, what you know about it, care/concern for people, etc.

only 24 more days!

That would be hard to determine purely off the interview though since there is nearly 140 people interviewed wouldn't it?

Hmm.. I agree. The Secretary Lady say they "add" it to your file and its "just" as important as the other items in your file. Also, I jipped this from northwestern's Feinburg admissions website:
"The Committee on Admissions reviews application files of interviewed applicants and recommends final admission actions."

Eva is such a nice secretary :)

I heard that none of the interviewers are on the admissions committee. I have no connections to cofirm this. If that is the case, the committee must have a formula based on ACT/SAT scores, grades, EC's, and the interviews. (Interviews will have a numerical grade, I suppose) Can anyone shed some light on this. The committee meets on the week of 14th, and processes 30 applications per day!!!!! Is that true?????

mistaippa : yes! isn't she : )?

Dang, ivyleague1. You seem to know a lot, how about you tell us other things u know about this cuz there was no real greeting thing not even to understand how the program works or anything.

actually i heard that the student interviewer as well as the faculty interviewer ARE on the committee that meets and makes the final decision... their input on applicants helps the process to choose finalists...

this information is secondhand though, from an applicant who was with me the same day at HPME... he had found out from the student interviewer and told me afterwards

Both the student interviewer and the faculty interviewer are on the committee.

i can confirm buckwald. my interviewer basically told me he was on the committee, as are all his colleagues.
