Northwestern HPME Part 1

AceMaster, I'm kind of confused about the number of recommendations. I do know that the English teacher has to write something attesting to your written ability, but on top of that, I'm assuming we need the two other ones?

for the hpme program itself, the only rec that is required is the english teacher rec, its fine if u send one or two more im sure, but according to the instructions in the app all u are required to send is an english rec, and sry about that sohni ya ssr is secondary school report

Does anyone know if HPME gets the other recommendations from the Northwestern application?

I want them to see my other recs, but I don't want to flood them with recommendations either.

No, the Northwestern undergraduate application and the HPME application are separate and they do not communicate with each other, except for test scores.

yeah! just got my app this morning...

Tofu: I'm happy for you, lol:)

lol thanks meadle...i had alotta problems gettin nu my card, they didn't get the mail i sent them and they also didn't receive my fax...so i had to call like three times and they extended the due date for me. They received my 2nd fax and i got the app like 4 days later

Tofu...Wow, finally....you have a little bit of a disadvantage in time to get the app in, but hey, i'm no better off...i'm seriously procrastinating on sending it in - for no reason, lol. Hope we meet @ the interview:)

definitely meadle...better yet, hopefully we'll both have a chance to enroll

the part about "personal history" in the essay prompt is annoying me a little bit:

"Complete an essay that includes your personal history, your reasons for wanting to study medicine, and why you are interested in the Honors Program in Medical Education."

Not really sure what they mean by "personal history" and how to segue from that into the "why I want to be a doctor" part of the essay

Be creative. Your personal history SHOULD relate to why you want to become a doctor by discussing how your past experiences have shaped your desire to go into medicine. If you aren't able to talk about that, it doesn't exactly work in your favor.

There isn't one right answer...just a lot of wrong ones ;)

as the Jan 1st deadline nears, i'm wondering how many ppl already sent in their app. i'm no where near ;_; altho i have a rough draft for the medical essay...

sent mine in couple weeks ago!

almost there...

have yet to start.
