to those who got interviews - when did you submit? what did the letter say? when are they interviewing?

mt101101, congrats and thanks for the info.
Three are invited so far, 2 from the midwest, 1 from the south. Anyone else got invited please share. My theory is the invitations started out with the midwest, then south and eventually east and west coast. So it is really helpful for future applicants if any got invited please share where they are from to confirm/dispute my theory.

Congratulations to those with interviews.

itsibitsy,

You must have some great ECs and essays. Are you URM?

I got an email from HPME today and I didn’t get the interview. I thought I should let you guys know, and I’m a little sad but I’ll get over it.

Congratulations to everyone who got an interview! That’s such an accomplishment. I too applied for the program, and I haven’t heard back yet. When did you guys submit your applications? Maybe they’re doing it in chronological order, because it’s certainly not geographical.
Also, are transportation/lodging costs our responsibility? And when are the interviews?

Interviews are February to march 6th. Transportation and lodging all on us. Interviews take from 9am-2pm. I applied early December. @northern, I am actually orm… Over represented minority. Indian. My ECs now thAt I think about it are not spectacular…just the typical stuff. Some 50ish hours volunteering, debate, tennis, etc. I did do some research, but I don’t recall mentioning it on the app. The only thing that’s left standing in my criticism of my app is my essay and I must say I was truly honest in the essay and think it might’ve turned out well.

isty,

Thanks for the info. Those essays must be awesome! Good luck on the interviews.

sn90069,

HPME in the past has had multiple interview dates. In general you always have to pay your way for these type of interviews and it can get very expensive, since you often have to fly on short notice.

asinine16,

Did you really get a rejection email on a Saturday? Or was the email sent out earlier. Do not let this get you down. HPME is a real crap shoot. I know people who did not get HPME interviews and went on to Harvard.

Got my rejection email today as well. Whoopee.

Yeah on a saturday T-T. I didn’t know I was that unqualified.

Dear #######,

I regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you an interview for the Honors Program in Medical Education. You are clearly a competitive applicant, but the Honors Program receives many applications from extremely qualified students. Due to the volume of applications we are only able to offer interviews to a small percentage of applicants. Your application was complete at the time of the review and was carefully considered by the committee.

We hope that you will still consider Northwestern University for your Undergraduate Education, and we would welcome your application to Feinberg School of Medicine after a traditional four year undergraduate program. The Feinberg School of Medicine also offers an early admissions program for highly qualified Northwestern Undergraduate students called the Northwestern Undergraduate Premedical Scholars Program (NUPSP). You are welcome to apply for this program in your third year of undergraduate study at Northwestern University, and can find out more information from their website, [Undergraduate Premedical Scholars Program (NUPSP)](http://www.feinberg.northwestern.edu/admissions/nupsp/index.html)

If you are no longer interested in being considered for regular admission to the freshmen class at Northwestern University, please use the attached form to notify the Undergraduate Admission Office that you wish to withdraw your application.

I wish you success in your academic endeavors and in achieving your goal to become a physician.

Sincerely,

Marianne Green, M.D.
Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine,
Associate Dean for Medical Education and
Competency Achievement, and
Director, Honors Program in Medical Education

asinine16,

You are NOT unqualified. Many highly qualified applicants are never interviewed for HPME based on fuzzy subjective factors. You still have a good shot at plenty of places.

<3 Best of luck to you northern! I hope you make it. And everyone else here too haha :)

Sending out emails on a Saturday…very interesting. Now I’m really wondering when they’re going to send me one, because I’m getting nervous :/
