Northwestern not GW?

So I got into Northwestern, UMich, and Case Western with Scholarship.....among others.

But yet GW chooses to waitlist me.??

Northwestern is ranked 12

GW is ranked 53.

Maybe because I was rejected by their med program?

dude dont worry about it, they waitlisted me also and i am going to the London School of Economics anyways

If GW does not feel that you have any sort of desire to attend GW, they will either wait list you or just flat our reject you. Look at it as a test to your loyalty and I believe GW made the right decision with you two. Good luck at LSE and Northwestern!

the US News rank is crap.

I too was waitlisted... I showed little interest and have previously gotten into Wash U and Tufts. I didn't plan to go to GW, and the school correctly identified that. If anything, I'm pretty impressed by their admissions board.

well they've got to protect that 34% yield rate somehow

Hey, I got a 2300 SAT's and ~4.0 uw and was also waitlisted to GWU. I remember now, though, that I submitted the application 5 days late (because, on the common app, it said that the due date was 1/15 when it was actually supposed to be 1/10). I talked to the school about this and they said that they were aware of the problem and would not hold it against me. Do any of you other guys remember if you happened to submit it on the common app date rather than 1/10? Maybe that would explain all this.

P.S. I visited the school and everything so there's no way they can magically tell I didn't want to go there.

Yeah, I submitted via the Common App as well, but I assumed that the deadline was correct. I did, however, get accepted, but my essays DRIPPED with the fact that GW is/was my first choice, and since I applied to a program (IELP) I couldn't apply ED. My submission went in on the 14th of January, I believe (I only realized in mid-Feb. that I was late for the programs deadline).

Did you have any EC's that were good or anything like that? My stats are lower than yours, but there was a fairly good reason for it (which I told them about) and I've been doing three solid EC's for years.

I thought I had some pretty decent EC's. I played clarinet in the band (concert master twice), did a bunch of volunteering (>200 hours, lots of tutoring type stuff), played some sports (though not a part of school), and was in some misc. clubs. Oh well, I probably wouldn't be going to GW anyway, so it worked out well. Congrats on getting into your first choice, asherman, I'm happy for you.
