@Whitefang1313 I got into Vandy as well. I think they’ll collect the deposit on May 2 and then if we decide to go somewhere else then we just lose that deposit, I guess
Yes, if you want to keep Vandy as an option you need to put the deposit down by May 2. No working around it as apparently they don’t seem willing to give extensions. If you get into another school that you would like better than Vandy after depositing, you inform Vandy that you will not be attending and deposit at the school you are going to go to. You don’t get the deposit back
Can we expect a decision today maybe :)?
Wednesday is more probable <
@luckybaby How do we know when decisions are out? Will they send an email?
@fairmaid Thanks! Also, does anyone know if there’s an applicant portal for Northwestern?
I got an email confirming that my application is complete but I’m unsure of whether there’s a place I can bookmark for decisions.
Really hoping they come out with decisions soon >.< Does anyone think it’ll come out this week…?
There’s no portal, they just communicate with us via email.
I’m hoping Wednesday or Thursday like the other waves. Let’s keep our hopes up!
@PixelTomato You can click on the following link https:// ugadmission . northwestern . edu /account/login?r=https%3a%2f%2fugadmission . northwestern . edu%2fapply%2fstatus (obviously, remove the spaces) and click on the forgot password option. You can then enter the e-mail that you used to apply to Northwestern (most likely the e-mail associated with your Common Application), and should receive the following e-mail:
It was requested that the password for this account be reset.
To access your account, please use the link below:
Access Account
When requested for a password, enter the following temporary, randomly-generated PIN:
XXXXXXXX
You will have an opportunity to change your password after authenticating.
Northwestern University
Granted, this portal is extremely limited, and signing into it only gives you this message:
Application Status for [First+Last name]
If you need to contact us regarding your application, provide your name and this reference number: XXXXXXXXX.
By looking at a post from someone who received an admission decision on this thread, the office will e-mail you when your decision is ready, so accessing this portal is not a necessary step; however, it is there if you wish to sign into it.
@LesMeules @bradthegrad2019 Thank you both!
I’m just really anxious to see if I got in or not. I’m glad to hear that singing into a portal is not necessary.
What time did people get their decisions when they came out 2 weeks ago?
About 4PM CST @inordie
Do you guys think Northwestern cares about related work experience? I honestly thought I had a good shot at Cornell for Dyson but got rejected today…
Here’s my story:
I graduated high school in 2011 with a 3.67 GPA and went to community college. I had no idea what I wanted out of life so my GPA took a big hit. After 3 semesters I had a 2.3 or something like that. I then dropped out and got a job at a local software company. After a year I was promoted and 6 months after that, our company was bought out by a private equity firm. After witnessing several mergers and acquisitions I fell in love with business/finance and decided to re-enroll as a business major (this was in 2014). Over the last few years I’ve been working full time while taking classes and have earned a 3.85 GPA.
During my time at the company I’ve worked primarily in sales. I basically now manage our company’s contract retention department and help operationalize new procedures, campaigns, price increases, blah blah blah…
So now, at 23 I’m finally ready to transfer and finish my degree lol…I applied to Cornell, BU, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, USC, UVA, and Duke. Accepted to BU and rejected by Cornell so far
what’s your cumulative GPA? 3.85? that includes the previous 2.3 GPA you had before?
No, cumulatively it’s about a 3.5 sadly. The 3.85 is a result of the last 59 units I’ve taken since my re-enrollment.
I dunno, I’m applying with a 3.6. But I feel like most people applying have 3.8+ cumulative. If you have really good essays and ECs and stuff then you will have a better chance. and work is definitely an EC.
I know my GPA is definitely pretty low. I guess I’m just hoping the see the entire picture. I went from a terrible student to a business savvy student passionate about his education and determined to succeed. Whatever happens happens lol it’s out of my hands at this point. I’m just so stressed about all this - it helps to vent on here sometimes.
@somehmonggirl what makes you say that? I hope it’s not true, I’m applying with a 3.69 so that would be bad
@SeinfeldFan1 Are you a Sophomore?
@inordie yeah!
applied to CAS, haven’t heard from NU yet
