@GracesEkphrasis - Thanks – that probably makes us all feel a bit better, plus it’s nice to hear confirmation that we should know by the 15th!

I was honestly surprised that DD decided to apply ED to NU. I’d always thought Yale or UMich were her dream schools, but apparently something about NU really impressed her during her tour.

Btw, she didn’t do Cherubs, but did a different prestigious summer MT program. I thought I heard that last year NU accepted 25 ED theatre kids who had done Cherubs, which I assume would mean they accepted virtual zero kids who didn’t… so that alone might rule out DD.

In any case, it will be interesting to hear where everyone lands after all the admissions dust settles!

My university counselor talked to the NU admission office today and they told him that we will hear our decision via email on FRIDAY AFTERNOON!!! DAY AFTER TMRW!!!

OMG, I am so anxious, but also hearing that we will know in just two short days is terrifying! It is nice that it’s on a Friday though, that way if the news is bad you will have a couple days to deal with it without having it affect your ability to concentrate on your current studies. Good luck everyone!!!

what day is it? oh wed! so a good chance of the 10th. I wish it was today. I’m sick of waiting! I’m calling NU to give them a piece of my mind right now!

I hope DD doesn’t get bad news on Friday (or any day of course) as she just found out she has a big callback that afternoon. I don’t think I’ll mention anything to her about a possible Friday decision date, and will hope she doesn’t read CC. ;-)

Fingers crossed for all of you!! Is it Friday yet?

Argh, yet another opportunity we didn’t know about! We even made an appointment and drove 4 hours to meet with admissions to ask if there were any things my daughter could do to improve her chances. They didn’t tell us about Cherubs, or the overnight visits, or about visiting and individual school. I feel like we were terribly unprepared. Had we known, she would have done all of those things!

DD did some of the things you’re concerned about not doing, and they might actually work against her! She did the SAT subject tests (too early) and got very weak scores, so this could hurt. She did a campus visit, but couldn’t plan it ahead (we were there for a family event she had to work around) so showing up without an appointment could hurt her.

No point second-guessing. It’s in NUs hands now. ;-)

It sounds like these are all great kids, so whichever University they land in will be very lucky. As one of our friends said when they heard where DD was applying “What – THEY should be applying to HER!!!”.

@jkaufman I don’t think they are going to be released this week. For the past couple of years that have been releasing decisions the Monday of the week of the 15th, which this year would be the 13th.

ALL Ivy League schools that have EA/ED are releasing their decisions Thursday/Friday. Cornell, UPenn, Columbia, etc. As far as I know, NO other schools are releasing early decision notifications until next week. (M, T, W)

Yes, the past couple of years have been Monday, but there was a huge surge in ED applicants this year. That could mean delays, but I think it also means added pressure, and I’ve seen posts citing earlier years when decisions have come on the 7th or 8th.

ahhh i’m so excited! If it is this friday… oh man! Ha I almost wish that person hadn’t told us, because now I’m expecting friday and if it isn’t, that weekend will be the longest weekend of my life
