not a skiier- problem?

I hear skiiing's pretty big at williams for day trips, etc.
Does it make no sense if I want to go to williams but have never skiied?

Why is not being a skier a problem? You can always learn.

My daughter will be a member of the class of 2013 and has never skied in her life. She might take the opportuity to learn to do so.

One of the reasons for going to college is to meet and accept new challenges. You want to broaden your horizon.

Good luck!!!

I’ve never skied a day in my life, and I loved my four years at Williams.

Honestly, skiing is only big at Williams during Winter Study. During the snow season (which is admittedly very long), most students are too caught up in schoolwork and other activities to really devote much time to skiing, which, after all, requires large chunks of your day at a time. Winter Study, of course, is the exception. When you only take one class two to three times a week, it’s quite easy to get over to the lifts with a bunch of friends. But even if you’re not a ski bunny, you’ll hardly be lacking in things to do.

HAHA me neither. I live five minutes walking from a slope and failed miserably at my one attempt to learn in eighth grade. I’ll join you in attempting to learn… or not ;D

I’ve only ever cross-country skiied, and I absolutely hate it. I’m too afraid of downhill skiing to try, so I’ll also be a non-skiier! Hahaha

cross country is amazing!

Haha, I’m just not the athletic type. I found cross-country to be really slow and not fun, but that’s just me and my laziness!
What do people do during Winter Study other than ski/snowboard/etc?

I love skiing! Only did it for a week but it was amazing. If you’ve never done it but are open to new adventures, it’s really a fun thing to do  even if you’re afraid to go downhill!

During Winter Study, people from a nearby ski resort come on campus and sell/rent gear and ski passes. If you are a beginner, the school has other students go to the resort and host beginner/intermediate ski classes. Its a lot of fun. Outside of Winter study you would not find many day trips to the resort aside from those run by the outing club, which are far in between.
