Not meeting a-g requirements

A friend of mine is applying to berkeley but he did not meet the a-g requirements (visual / performing arts, to be precise). So, he decided to take the missing classes in his 2nd semester in the senior year, and wrote that down and applied. He already got into UCSD. Unfortunately, my friend, for some reason, totally forgot about taking the missing classes. If Berkeley accepts him and sees his 2nd semester transcript, will the decision be rescinded? Will UCSD do the same thing? Thanks!

call the admissions office and ask them. By the way, admissions for Fall 2006 require one full year of the visual performing art. One semester will not fulfill that requirement. It is a new policy for students entering Fall 2006.

Oh, forgot to mention, he took one semester course in his freshmen year. Thanks for your reply!

call immediately, friend maybe able to make it up in summer or at a community college. Friend also better have a good excuse -- better than "I forgot".

msmandoo --when i say one year of visual performing arts, i mean ONE YEAR...not two seperate semesters... you're friend's gonna have to make up a full year of VPA. That happened to my friend as well. Have your friend talk to a counselor...your friend can easily make up classes online at BYU indepedent study before graduation.

I came up here in 04, but my friend didn't even bother doing his visual art credit, in fact the A-G requirement isn't mandatory, its one of (i think) three paths you can take to meet admissions standards. One of the others was getting like a 1400 on your SAT or something like that, not quite sure, but don't worry about it. i

im in this predicament too, i just cant seem to fit my VPA (most prolly beginning ceramics (easy A)) into my already-too-full schedule. Does anyone kno where i can take these courses somewhere? If i could do something online (obviously not ceramics...), where would it be from?

thanks

Aye. I think they're rather lenient when it comes to the visual arts credit. For example, my arts credits were composed of the following:
-History of Rock and Roll (1 Semester)
-Crafts (1 Semester)
Despite that, i've gotten into UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCSB.

It should be noted, though, that on my application, I listed 2 years of guitar lessons under ECs. Perhaps that made up for it (?).

I'm not sure how lenient they'll be, though, if your friend simply flat out lied about taking a class.

Just tell him to take a quarter long class during the summer on underwater basket weaving (our local college actually has that class lol) or something art-related.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the UC's are pretty lenient on the VPA course requirement because I called and asked if Culinary Arts satisfied the requirement and the admissions counselor I talked to said it was fine. I mean come on, culinary arts? That's a huge reach.

is this "friend" of yours you....

mastermixer: I've applied too but I did fulfull the requirements (choir). :)
My friend asked for help so here I am posting in CC.

Anyways, thanks for the input! I guess he will have to do something in the summer. :)
