There are many gator fans who don't get accepted into UF and wind up attending FSU. Admission to UF is a bit tougher, but I believe any student can get a comparable education at either institution. Anyway, does anyone know of any gator fans at FSU? Do they remain faithful or are they forced to assimilate to the Seminole football scene?

Unfortunately, there are some people that go to FSU that were rejected by UF but still think they are Gators. Most people quickly assimilate to the FSU culture. Despite our lack of success this past decade, games are still a hell of a lot of fun. Most importantly, why would you root for YOUR school’s rival EVER? I never can understand the people who don’t root for the school they attend.

Ever? Maybe it’s because not everyone thinks they should inherit a dislike for a school’s rival football team… I root for UF in every game except the ones against FSU, and I really don’t see a problem with it.

To be honest, I think that die hard Gator fans who do not get in to UF and can’t see themselves as Seminoles are more likely to go to UCF. Lots of Gator fans at UCF esp in UCF Honors. There are certainly Gator fans at FSU. And yes, most of them are actually Gator fans and Seminole fans, until they play each other. Then some become die hard Seminoles and some remain Gator fans.

While I root for the Seminoles and anyone who is playing the Gators, and my D at FSU does the same, she knows students who go to FSU who really get into the home games and root hard for the Seminoles once they are students at FSU, but become Gator fans again on the day of the FSU-UF game. Wearing a Gator shirt on the day of a FSU-UF game is not a big deal. Going to FSU and continuing to wear a Gator shirt everyday, well…go to UCF.

Like the Beach Boys sang: “Be true to your school.” If you are a student at XYZ College, you need to get with the program and get rid of any of your ABC College gear and attachments, and start rooting for good old XYZ College. FSU students rooting for UF at a FSU-UF game is sick, same for UF students rooting for FSU at a UF-FSU game–it just doesn’t make sound sense to me and sounds pretty twisted. Maybe a FSU graduate student who was an undergraduate at UF might be okay sliding into a UF-FSU game in gator gear–but that’s about it for acceptable behavior.

I follow the different Florida college teams and like to see all of them do well…except when they are playing my college!

Yep, I see that happening right now in school. Well, actually a lot of them are considering USF over UCF now because they have better scholarship offers. Nearly everyone who realized they wouldn’t be getting into UF this year completely disregarded FSU simply because they hate the noles.

I hate admitting this, but I was a Gator fan for pretty much my whole life. I didn’t get in, and chose FSU over UCF for various reasons. I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. Heck, if I could go back and change the decision, I wouldn’t.

The way I saw it a year ago; if UF doesn’t want me, I sure as hell don’t want any part of them. It wasn’t difficult for me to make the switch at all. I root for UF to lose every game (because they are my school’s biggest rival) and am at every home FSU football and basketball game supporting our teams vociferously.

There are a fair share of people who grew up UF fans that are now at FSU for whatever reason. Most have also had no problem adjusting to the Seminole “culture.”

Then again, we also have those thousands who were accepted at Florida State and U Florida, but chose to be Seminoles in the first place. And we also have those Seminoles who, for whatever reason known but to them, decided to go to Hogtown.

Yes, but if you go to USC and root for Notre Dame, there’s a problem. I guess I just can’t understand not rooting for YOUR school; particularly when you go to a school with a premiere athletics department.

I was a UM fan and went to FSU, once you’re in the culture and you see true seminole spirit you become an FSU fan instantly, there’s nothing like it.

Plus seminoles stick by their school, I was laughing at how we had a Free Weezer concert last week, and a lot of UF students on the website to register said they went to FSU in order to get a ticket. If it were the opposite way, I’d never say I was a gator in order to go see a concert.
