Not retaking the course with no pass mark?

Hello guys,

Does anybody know if “No Pass” mark will affect my chance?

Here is the story:
This semester, I won’t be able to pass Calculus 1 again. The course was on pass/no pass system (credit/no credit).
I’ve tried it twice now, it’s really hard and I wasn’t able to pass it the second time.
I’ve figured that I should take Stats to fulfill my IGETC math portion.
So that I am able to get IGETC certified by next Spring.
Plus, taking calculus on a grade system would be better for grad schools.

So I’ll try again next Spring. During fall, I will take Stats.

Yeah, “No Pass” mark will still remain unresolved- by the time the admission officers review my application.
Again, I’ll write the question: will the unresolved “No Pass” mark affect my chance?

Thank you very much

Is it too late to withdraw?

@happy2help I just didn’t want to accumulate more W’s :slight_smile:

If your plan is to transfer to a UC, then Ws don’t hurt you as much as a D or F might, without academic renewal since your GPA goes down. If you take the W, you don’t have to repeat the same class. If you get a D or F, you would probably want to repeat for academic renewal and to try to increase your GPA.

If your plan is to transfer to a private, it depends on that school’s admission criteria.

Ws may count against you when applying to grad schools, but so would Ds and Fs.

@happy2help Thank you for your reply. I will retake Cal 1 the next Spring
(and try my best to get at least a B)

Also, No Pass won’t affect my GPA. I just wanted to bypass this course with a Pass for IGETC.
