Not-so-great freshman year

You shouldn’t attend a top school just because it’s a top school. There are more important things than prestige. For example a top school might not offer you the merit aid you need to be able to attend (although their need-based aid is usually generous), a top school might not have your desired major, or a top school might not have an atmosphere you like. Some schools have more competitive majors than others and you might have to choose between going to a “top school” and studying the major you like.

If a top school hits more points on your checklist of what’s important in a school than your other school options then by all means go if you’re admitted. But I personally wouldn’t decide that if admitted to any top school I would attend it without question.

@Lagging Would you stop parroting random information?

The reason I asked about a top tier school was because prestige quite frankly happens to be one thing I’d look to in a college. I never said it was my ONLY quality I’d look forward to in a college. I never even confirmed what college I wanted to aim for, because I’m quite frankly undecided.

I’ll just add one more thought before leaving this thread. OP, I don’t think those grades are going to be your biggest obstacle to getting in to a top school.

You were actually not at all clear about that. I believe some of us were operating on the idea of the 3.75 being the final GPA, not 3.9: “From here onwards if I do my best, my GPA can only get up to a 3.75 (unweighted).”

Your initial post did imply a 3.75 cumulative. All information I provided was meant to help you but since I’m “parroting random information” I’ll stop trying to help.

If you don’t want advice (which does include personal opinions since admissions officers rarely comment on here) then you shouldn’t post. The personal attacks from “idiot” to “Since people here can’t comprehend English…” are not going to help you get responses you would like.

I think your question has been answered by several posters. You asked if you should be worried about your grades and posters have told you:

  1. You’re (potentially) going to be below average in class rank compared to competitors
  2. You’ll (likely) get into many great schools but top tier ones are probably going to be a big reach
  3. You have three more years so a lot can change,

I’ll agree with @mathyone that your biggest obstacle will not be the grades. I’m out as well, no point in giving advice when it’s not only unwanted but results in personal attacks.
