Not taking SAT II math... bad?

I'm taking the SAT II's this weekend. The tests i'm considering taking are Biology, Spanish and Literature. I'm omitting math just because I know I wouldn't be getting a very impressive score on it and its not my best subject. Will not taking math prevent me from getting into any specific schools, and do u think it would hurt my chances at selective colleges?

Also, does anyone know if the UC's require SAT II Math IC or IIC along with the new SAT?

OMG. I don't know of any schools that don't require SAT II math if you're required to take SAT II's. UC's require SAT II math big time. For 2006 admissions, they will only take LEVEL 2, which is very tough on a lot of people. Is it me, or is the c/o 2006 the experimental class? We have the new SAT's, new requirements like level 2 for UC's, we have to take the CAHSEE (which doesn't really matter b/c it's so easy), and a whole lot of other stuff I can't think of right now.

Yeah. Does seem like 2006 is the experiment class. Like the new SAT's, Exit Exams, etc.

Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, they've proclaimed the graduating HS class of 2006 the guinea pig of the College Board and state education systems. =P..

That said, no, not taking the SAT II won't be detrimental for you.

On the contrary, I think it will limit your college options somewhat. Many colleges require Math IIC now. As a member of the class of '05, I was exempted from the new policy. You . . . may not be so fortunate. Once you start your college search, you can decide whether or not to take the exam. You have until October of senior year (or later, depending) to figure things out.

Nowhere on the UC's website does it say that SAT II Math IIC is required. It only says that math IC or writing will not fulful the 2006 requirment. Although Math IIC will and so will any other combo of the however many SAT II's are offered, as logn a they're in different subjects.

also, its kinda unfair for colleges to require only math IIC ... I never had the opportunity to be skipped ahead a year in math like most kids ( my middle school didn't have algebra). I can only take IC, I haven't learned Trig yet.

Not taking the SAT II maths will possibably hurt your chances at places like MIT and caltech.

well i'm not applying to MIT or caltech.

To make this clearer to everyone, these are the schools I'm considering applying to. Will not taking the SAT II math IC (in my case) hurt my chances?

Reed College
Pepperdine
Johns Hopkins
George Washington University
All UC Schools
Some CSU campuses (california state university..)
University of Chicago
Davidson
Boston University
American University
Brown (? Its a major reach, i don't know)
Northwestern
Barnard

Instead I'll be taking Biology, Spanish (w/out listening) and Literature. For the aforesaid schools, will no SAT II math hurt me?

Oh, and i'm also taking the ACT, which i hear covers the SAT I and II requirement for some schools...

"Nowhere on the UC's website does it say that SAT II Math IIC is required"

For the UC's, you definitely NEED to take SATII Math. On this year's application, it specifically requested that you put in a score for writing, math...and then one other one of your choice. I think their published admission statistics even include SATII math averages. Since you are in class of '06, you probably need to take IIC. :)
