Not Top 10%

Hey Everyone, this is my first time on College Confidential and I just wanted to say hi :).

Also, UT is my first choice school, but unfortunately I'm not in Top 10%

At time of application these were my stats:
SAT: Math=680 Cr=680 W=700 (Total of 2060)
Class Rank: 94/613 (15.33%) Its a pretty prestigious and difficult High School
Extra Curricular: 4 years of Track, NHS, Spanish Club, ICS, Chess Club, Ultimate Frisbee
All AP/GT classes
I worked throughout my entire Junior and Senior Year
1st Choice: Business
2nd choice: Liberal Arts
I'm Half Burmese Half Pakistani, but I put Asian/Pacific Islander on my Application
What do you think my chances are?

Won't get into business.
You'll probably get into Liberal Arts.
Should get at least Summer Programmed if not.

As noted in the "Summer Freshmen" thread started by flatxca, no Summer Freshman Class this year (summer 2009). http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/663650-summer-freshmen.html

Probably won't get business, but you'll get into the school.

I also wanted to mention that I am a Texas resident and live in Katy.

I'm worried becasue I haven't heard back yet, and I saw on the news that UT has accepted record number of students already this year due to the TOP 10% rule, and has also received a record number of Freshman applications this year.

What school? Cinco?

James E. Taylor actually :)

For a second I thought you were going to say Mayde Creek or something. I guess there is some truth behind your "prestigious" comment. :)

I dunno about McCombs because its probley already full with the already admitted freshman. Liberal arts is probley going to be a definate yes. When I visited the campus, the tour guide told me that the kids who didnt get into engineering or business almost always got offer admission to the liberal arts program. good luck.

Are there any other seniors out there that have gotten admission and are not in the top 10%

Probably in, but not McCombs.

OMG! The wait is killing me! I hold my breath every time I check the website (Which is like 10 times a day)

I was accepted: not 10%, but also not a traditional major (Fine Arts.) Still, I had respectable academics and test scores.

According to what I've read decisions should be arriving in the next week or so.

congratulations cejaducegu!

Thank you kindly MidwestMom.

I visited UT yesterday, and the admissions person told us decisions should probably come out by the end of the week.
