Hi, I am going to be senior at very highly ranked school in the my city (in Texas) this coming fall. I'm going to be starting college applications this summer and would like some feedback on what my chances may be of getting into my ultimate dream school, the University of Texas at Austin.

Stats, etc.:

SAT: 1790 (590W 590CR 610M)

G.P.A.: 3.76UW 4.33W

Rank: 55/552, last person in the top 10% of my school

Extracurriculars: Taekwondo (for 10 years, I am a blackbelt), I have a job at Kumon learning center tutoring, NHS, Junior Statesmen of America, Band (marching and concert)

This summer I am attending the UT Honors Colloquium

I would also like to know, to anyone who got accepted into UT, what were your stats, etc.?
Any feedback is helpful and appreciated, thank you :)

First: There is a thread for non-top7% applicants who got into UT. Check it out:

By the way, what major are you applying for? If you’re applying for Education or “undeclared” you’ll have greater chances to get into UT than Electrical or Petroleum Engineering.

The fact that you’re in top 10% will help a little bit, I would definitely try to keep your GPA up, even try to move up a couple spots. Other than that, try and get your SAT score up a little… Maybe even take the ACT? Submit your app early! I can’t stress that enough. Write some good essays and I would say that you have a good shot. Just remember to have a good backup, cause UT’s admissions are ridiculously unpredictable.

Yeah, OP could use Texas A&M as a safety. Any Texas public school, really (except for UT, of course).
Do increase the SAT and shoot for no less than 2,000; alternately, take the ACT and aim for a 30 or higher.

I had same stats was capped then appealed then accepted. Apply undecided or liberal arts your scores fit those ranges.
Use texas a&m as a safety
