Not Your Typical Applicant

I'm looking to get into elite universities. So far, I've had ~8 universities contact me, but I'm not interested in attending them. I would like to attend Duke, any Ivy League, Stanford, Berkeley, UCSD, UCLA, University of Chicago or Pepperdine. My only concern is my academic record. Although, I do have strong & unique EC's & work experience.

At age 15, I started my own management company. So far I have represented over 13 clients. One of my current clients Qwes (I work as his Promotions Manager/Booking Agent/Producer) held the #4 position in the European Dance Chart for his single "Don't Let Go" ft. Akon & Jay J, as well as winning "Best New Artist" for the MTV TMF Awards in Belguim. I also manage and book records for music producers that have done work & are working w/ Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige, Rick Ross, Jason Bebier, Donny Klang etc... I also manage a graphic designer that works w/ Young Berg, Sean Kingston, Rob Holladay, etc. I recently booked 3 acts for LXM PRO Tour and have a lot of other strong placements/dealings behind my name. (I'm also in the process of becoming a promoter/marketer for 2 clothing lines & I work the the "top" people in the entertainment industry)

Also at 15, I started attending a local community college. I've also been casted for the Los Premios MTV 2009 Award Show, a Busta Rhymes music video, and I will most likely be apart of the People's Choice Awards in January. I've interned for Konvict Muzik (Akon's label) and a law office in San Diego. I'm also apart of a club in my school. I mentor prospective entrepreneurs & kids in need and I have over 390 hours of community service.

My only concern is my low GPA & test scores, but I have an excuse, I popped a blood vessel in my head my junior year (i was in & out of the hospital & completely drugged up 24/7). I was expected to fail all my classes, but I got away w/ a 2.8 GPA and still attended my local CC. I have 1530 on my SATS (only took it once & i'm positive I can score alot higher, 1800+ for several reasons)

I'm still only 17, but I'm insanely successful for my age (I have a lot more credits and awards/honors than I posted) & I had a very serious hardship my junior year. Is there any chance that I can get into Duke, Stanford, or any Ivy League.

(I'm also working on a publishing a book pretty soon & I will be submitting in an artistic supplement that contains tracks I have written/produced)

I'm also hispanic & first generation college student & graduating high school early

i would say you have a minimal chance of getting into any “tier 1” schools unless the management company you started is mckinsey (joke). in all seriousness, now i will continue.

you could attempt to counteract your sub-par scores and gpa in the additional details section of your application where you could explain the issues which prevented you from performing to your fullest capacity. it sounds like you do have a good reason - but i don’t really think it would account for your low test score.

conversely, stressing your passion and dedication to your business would be a positive quality for your application (thought I don’t personally believe that a business alone could counteract the other stats - but who am i to judge?)

however, i question the amount of sincerity you would be able to convey in your application towards any of your schools given that you used “any ivy league” as one of your criterion.
