@thankyou4flying, it’s hard not to assume that we didn’t get waitlisted or rejected seeing as acceptances went out Priority Mail and people have already received them all over the country. However, I will keep a sliver of hope alive until I actually see my decision (which better be tomorrow). Of course I’m very prepared for rejection/waitlist though

I want to tell people what my mailman told me: He said that regular sized envelopes takes the least amount of time bc they can go through the computer sorter. Priority Mail actually takes longer, especially when it is a large envelope bc large envelopes can’t go through the computer sorter. They have to be manually sorted.

So there. :)

Yes!! Maybe there’s still some hope, lol!!! Either way, I’m still going to prepare myself for a waitlist/rejection. To everyone still waiting for this mail - good luck!

OMG I DIDN’T GET IT TODAY… OR ANY MAIL!!! THAT MUST MEAN THEY REJECTED ME :'(

jklol

@ 7Sisters. i love you for posting that on here. i’ve been anxiously waiting for the mail for three days now. i must be on vanderbilt CC more than 20 times a day.

Good luck to everyone and congrats to those who were accepted!

Ok so I checked the mail box FIVE TIMES today only to later learn I don’t get mail on sundays…fail.

Anyways, this stupid letter needs to come already. Is the consensus that all people accepted have already received letters??

I live in SoCal and acceptances from Boston College were mailed out the same day as Vandy. I received a large acceptance packet all the way from Boston on Saturday so it seems like the majority of acceptances (maybe with some exceptions) should have reached most of the country. In the exact same mail, I received my Vandy waitlist letter. Tennesee is much more central to everyone than Boston (obviously) so common sense would say most should have received their priority acceptances by Saturday. But… stranger things have happened…

Regarding common sense: This is the USPS we’re talking about. :). Read my post above. My mailman tells me that everyone thinks Priority Mail means it comes faster than 1st Class mail. He says that 1st Class is faster. Also large envelopes have to get sorted by hand while smaller rejection and waitlist l letters get sorted by the computer making them even faster. We are in NYC and have nothing. Today should be the day though.

Mine came yesterday in Georgia. Waitlisted… :/

Oops and by yesterday I mean Saturday. No mail on Sundays haha

I got my letter today (Monday)… Waitlisted

Anyone know how many people get in off the wait-list?

On Saturday when mail from Vandy hadn’t arrived, I prepared myself for a rejection or waitlist, and I was waitlisted…People in MA had gotten the big envelopes by then.

@ZapadniyRus, in fall 2010 they admitted 323 out of 1733 who chose to remain on the waitlist (18.6%) (I got this info from the Common Data Set). This year, it could be more or less depending on if their yield goes down or up. In any case, they seem to make more use of their waitlist than at other top schools. On the blog they said about 10% of each freshman class is comprised of students initially waitlisted.

Son rejected today. A stretch school for him given his stats (ACT only 29) but knew people who got in with lower stats so there was that spark of hope. Best of luck for those waitlisted.

Rejected (got the letter today). Bummed But not surprised.

Yeah, Vanderbilt has to now. Ever since they instituted the freshmen residential system, they absolutely CANNOT afford to go over 1600. The Commons is key to the freshman experience. In the past, Vandy habitually overaccepted, which resulted in students being housed in upperclass dorms (and therefore had a harder time making friends).

I still haven’t heard anything…

OMG, that’s horrible!

Hey guys, I just wanted to let those of you who haven’t received anything yet know that there is still hope. I got my acceptance packet today and I live in TN only about 150 miles from Nashville. If it took that long for me to receive mine, it’s quite possible that others could expect even longer waits.

Good luck, everyone! Just keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best :)

No there isn’t… Sorry for being realistic

I got my acceptance packet today. Very snazzy looking. It then tells me that I will get no financial aid. (Sad face).
