Any ideas as to when / how (via snail mail or email) CCPA is going to send out notifications?

CCPA said email. Last year the decisions came out around the 23rd? The year before they were earlier, like the 5th/6th. So the when is anyone’s guess, but it should be an email.

Ah okay. It’s nice to have an idea as to when I’ll hear back so I’m not checking the mail box and email every five seconds, haha. Thank you!

hah I check my email every five seconds anyways. But when I was there I asked when we would know and they said if not April 1st, then the very end of March.

Hey guys. It will be via email, and you will find out by April 1st. I believe decisions are still being made and scholarships are still being awarded. You will get answers soon! Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime!

Do the emails come out in batches or all at once?

And I have to say, CCPA was my D’s favorite audition! She had time to warm up in a practice room, sang BOTH songs and did BOTH monologues and he took time to chat with her. She said she felt like a person and not just a voice! Loved the school tour, too. What a view!

AustinMT- They should all be sent out at once. That’s how it has happened in previous years. I’m so glad your daughter loved CCPA! I may be biased, but it’s a wonderful place to spend 4 years.

I am a current senior, and work study student in the CCPA Enrollment office. I worked a lot of the audition days, so I may have met many of you who auditioned this year. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

musicislife - Do you know if the BFA MT students are permitted to audition for straight plays and vice versa? I was told on another thread that the two programs are kept separate (MT’s only in musicals and the Theatre BFA’s only in the straight plays). Is that accurate?

Hi Austinmt- I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I just saw this! Anyways, yes, it is usually the case that Acting majors do the straight plays and MTs do the musicals. However, there is sometimes the opportunity for crossing over depending on the season. Both Acting majors and MTs auditioned for the Cradle Will Rock (a mainstage production) and Acting and MTs just did a Performance Art workshop performance together as well. So basically, usually they do not cross over, but sometimes they do!

Decisions should be in your email!

D is in BFA MT Voice emphasis! Whew! Good luck to all!

Son in BFA acting. Best wishes to everyone!

D accepted to BFA MT with Dance concentration!!

Son accepted to BFA-MT Voice Emphasis!! Anyone get any info on talent awards?

Congrats, everyone! As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the program!

mcpcwhite and dreaminbig: Where does CCPA fall on your child’s lists? Pros and cons?

My son loves CCPA and it is definitely in his top three. However, the lack of much financial aid may be a factor…especially when other schools have offered so much. The pros are obvious – great location, great city, great theatre area - well known for its training and reputation in the midwest. He got a great vibe from the school and felt like it would be a great fit. Cons? Money - that’s the only one I can think of off the top of my head :)

So there is a lack of financial aid across the board at CCPA, not just my D? She received so much more from her other schools. I assumed it was because her other offers were because of her academic strength and CCPA doesn’t take GPA and SAT scores into account.

Do we know why their awards are so much smaller?

I spoke with CCPA yesterday about the scholarship situation – all scholarships in the conservatory are awarded based primarily on need. Which makes perfect sense, given the vision and ethos of the university.

To musicislife: I tried to send a PM to you but it wouldn’t go through. I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind…
Do the freshmen live in Wabash and do they put the theatre kids together or how do they assign roommates?
I know study abroad for CCPA is really only possible in the summers, but do any of the kids actually do it? And does the school assist in finding programs or are you on your own?
And as far as social life, since it is such a small group of kids, do you all tend to hang out together in your (small amount of) spare time or do you hang out with kids from some of the other schools in the area? What is “down-time” like or do you have any?
Thanks!
