Notify in May?!

My friend called TAMU admission officer, and says that they will send out notification in May. She is an international student, so am I. How can this happen?

Do you mean admission notification? If so, that’s seems kinda weird. I’m an international student as well. They updated my AIS like a month or so ago, so I basically new what my decision was then. I just received the official letter two weeks ago. Have you heard back?

I’m international too and yesterday A&M told me that I’ll hear back by May 1. I think they don’t like internationals because May 1 is an impossible date to wait for us.

I wouldn’t be so quick to say they do it because they hate internationals haha… Especially because they have already let some internationals know…

When did y’all get your documents in? Did you get everything in by the deadline?

@Matt515, Yes, I submitted all documents on time. They confirm them on early January, but they said that they received it before, just didn’t update my status at that time. Still waitiiing

Thats really strange. Good luck! Are you a freshman, or transfer?
I’m not international, so I don’t have in depth knowledge about the process, but from what I could tell you definitely should’ve heard by now. I know you’ve already called them, but have you tried calling and asking why the notifications won’t be out til May? It may seem weird to do that, but I’ve always found the TAMU staff very helpful and I’m sure they’d try to let you know why. I’m assuming you’re not on a wait list or anything… they don’t find out til May 17, I think.

I agree with Matt. You should’ve heard back from admission by now. And yes, the TAMU staff are very helpful. I was surprised myself by how cheerful the lady sounded when I rang the first time.

They’re certainly more friendly than the staff of other universities I’ve dealt with haha… though to be honest, I’ve had very little contact with downright unfriendly admissions staff anywhere.

That’s nothing. I applied in September last year (way before the November deadline) as an international student for a master’s program which is meant to start on July 1st or so and still haven’t heard back. I’ve called A & M at least 10 times this year and it’s always the same story- we’ll have a desision soon. Of course at this point it doesn’t really matter if I get accepted or not because it’ll be very difficult to sort out an I-20, a student visa and accomodation before the summer semester begins. I’ve given up on 'em. I’ve gotten accepted by other schools and don’t wish to repeat my experience with A & M in the future. With all that said, the A & M staff were very friendly on the phone but that doesn’t count for much at this point.

Weird. I’m undergrad in-state, so I’m sure the experience is very different. Even so, that is extremely odd. I honestly don’t know what to think of that.

Tell me about it. I called again today and they told me to keep checking my application status page.
