Notorious Graduates

So last night I was helping my son find info. for his English paper about "a tragedy". DH suggested Jim Jones and the 900 people who committed mass-suicide back in 1978. Of course, son had never heard of any of this. In writing the paper, son learns Jones is a graduate of Butler University, a school he has applied at. This is something we didn't need to know!

There are tons of creepy people with Ivy league degrees as well! Did you want to start a thread? Ted Kaczynski the Unabomber (Harvard) is the first one I think of...

Some years ago, a guy losing custody of his kids shot and killed several people in a local family court. He received the death penalty, waived all appeals and was executed by lethal injection. A few months later, his name was listed among the Deaths in my law school alumni magazine. I'm not positive, but he was probably the first SMU law school alum to be executed by the state of Texas. (No lawyer jokes, please!)

Ted Bundy went to UW and got a degree in psychology! And also worked on political campaigns and was supposed to be incredibly charming and educated...

Didn't Bush go to Yale?

good one, wis75!!

Monica Lewinsky, Lewis & Clark College
Richard Nixon, Duke Law
John Dean, G. Washington University Law (highest score in Ethics class, reputedly)

Fidel Castro, classwork at Columbia

ted bundy then went to u of utah law school.

Psychopaths have been known to be charming yes- I believe he even worked alongside Ann Rule( crime writer) a former policewoman at a crisis hotline

Turned out to be Ann Rule's lucky break. You never know who you know might help you in life.

Ted Bundy still gives me the creeps from beyond the grave-

Yup, I think about him whenever I drive by Lake Sammamish State Park and one of his first victims.

There was a current student at my alma mater who was arrested last year upon landing in Texas, after flying back from Central America with a stick of dynamite in his suitcase. He said it was a souvenier. I attended a top-40 LAC, but apparently we don't require a "common sense" exam before admittance.

Kathy Boudin (Bryn Mawr) and Cathy Wilkerson (Swarthmore), members of the Weather Underground. I can't remember if they actually killed anyone but they did make bombs (ineffectively).

*Yup, I think about him whenever I drive by *

Well that isn't what I think about when I go to Lake Sammamish at least-
we have friends who live on east shore- but also two of my friends drowned in Lake Sammamish one October almost 30 years ago.
There is a sports field in one of their names at Marymoor where we spent a lot of time.

Almost drowned at Lake Sammamish myself when I was a pup. I hear no one goes there anymore because it's too crowded, to paraphrase Yogi Berra.

Yes, and where did Cheney go?? THAT is what I want to know!!

Cheney flunked out of Yale and then went to U of Wyoming according to Wiki.

I believe Condi Rice went to Stanford for grad school...or Notre Dame, I forgot which.

Cheney also lost a gubernatorial election to a dead guy. Alberto Gonzales went to Harvard Law, according to Wiki. I can't believe the Harvard Law name has been tainted by idiots like him.

Jean Harris graduated from Smith.
