Is it possible to get into Notre Dame with a B on a semester grade? My son has had a 4.0 thus far, took a Spanish 2 class online. The Spanish 1 class online was a condensed class 1 year into 1 semester. But the school changed policies and Spanish 2 was now for the whole year. We misunderstood the grading scale and thought they would grade at the end of the year, but he received semester grades. Not realizing they were doing this, he was a bit behind the first semester and received a B while managing three varsity sports that semester. Second semester he did receive an A. Any suggestions?
I sent you a PM, but want to say here that one B is not likely to be a problem in the application. A strong course load, good test scores, outside interests, and of course essays that match the Notre Dame mission will be what matters. Good luck to your son!
Absolutely. My son is a rising junior at ND. He had 2 or 3 semester B’s on report card. It helps to be taking honors or AP courses when offered.
A few Bs are not a major issue - don’t worry. He picked himself up and put out the effort and improved, so I think he should be fine.
I would worry more about achieving very high test scores than the 1 B
My suggestion would be to take a deep breath and recognize that nobody is perfect. A B for one semester will not be an issue.
My daughter is a freshman at ND. I’m sure she had a few Bs.
