Notre Dame EA Class of 2020

guys… almost a quarter of the admitted class is below a 31. it’s not that unusual if you have an overall strong application: one day’s work won’t override years of work, EC’s, and strong essays. My roommate got in with a 31, and a bunch of my friends had scores in the 30-32 range. You just need something else that differentiates yourself.

Perfectly reasonable answer, but I am assuming that those stats would be more likely for RD as opposed to EA. Not saying that it’s impossible for EA, just more likely for RD.

Congratulations to you Turk71. I’m certain that you are probably downplaying your resume in an attempt to be humble.

Ha, I think Turk71 is probably downplaying his accomplishments. Humility is good. Whatever the application committee saw impressed them enough to offer admission AND pre-approval for Mendoza. If my son accepts his offer, perhaps you will become friends. Congratulations again.

Waiting for Chicago.

Does anyone know if they’re sending physical packages this year?

I thought someone earlier stated that the only people receiving anything in the mail would be those that were accepted. If you got denied or deferred, the only communication would be through the portal.

My daughter has been accepted with a strong GPA and essays but only a 28 ACT score.

Wonderful to hear that, ND2020Mom. When I applied to ND years ago, I also had “low” testing scores compared to other ND students. But it didn’t hold me back. Hard work will always make up for things like that. I hope your daughter is excited to join the Irish Family.

Best,
Nicholas

Accepted!!!
Act-33
Gpa- 4.3 w/ 3.98 uw

@Turk71 may have gotten a 31, but his GPA is super impressive. For me, I’m kinda similar, but in the opposite way. I have a 35 and a 3.8 UW/4.1 W (because my school doesn’t offer AP or honors to freshman). Honestly, it all comes down to the essays. I also got pre-approved for Mendoza as well, so here’s further reassurance.

@ayyyyyyy can I still get pre-approved for Mendoza if I apply RD?

Why does everyone on here seem bent on entering Mendoza?

Spoiler alert: as a current student, it’s not as great as people make it out to be.

@leonardo2020 Well, if you’ve already applied REA and didn’t get pre-approved, then unfortunately I don’t think you can reapply for Mendoza (not exactly sure, but that’s my thought).

@ND2020Mom I’m so happy to hear that! This give me a lot of hope… ND seems impossible for me to get in. I have an GPA of 4.0 (our honor classes don’t weight much), #3 in my class, but I only have 1850 on my SAT (about 28 on ACT). I have tons of EC’s such as President of NHS, Class VP, Secretary of Key Club, NSHSS Ambassador, Opera actress…
What is your daughter’s GPA and what are her other stats? I’m applying RD. Just curious what is the chance for me to get in since your daughter and I have pretty similar test scores.

@Fiona1997, What’s your SAT breakdown? ND only looks at CR+M. Your EC’s are good and you rank is great (your GPA is looked at relative to your high school), but your SAT will drag you down. @ND2020Mom, did your DD have any hooks?

@ilhistorygeek I only have 530 on the reading part, 700 on the math part. I have 620 on the writing part but I know they don’t look at it. I’m from China, English is my second language so my reading is really bad. I’m from a really small Catholic school (100 students total) in Western MA and one of our grads went there a couple of years ago. I’m Catholic and I wrote in my essay how I became Catholic in a non-religious environment, why people need God’s grace and how human longing for God. I said that I want to study Theology and to preach in China and other countries where people have less religious freedom.

Does anyone know of anyone that indicated business as their first major and was admitted early action but not pre approved for Mendoza? Or does it look like people are getting admitted and pre approved, deferred or rejected?

Has anyone received notification from the Glynn Honors Program? I know it is a long shot for DD and just want to know when people receive their letters so we can stop hoping for it.

@Fiona1997 It sounds like your whole story is really a special and unique one. May God bless you on your journey with your faith and best of luck with Notre Dame.

@cinmom2 I’m pretty sure letters haven’t gone out yet. My friends and I haven’t received invitations and we have 35/36’s with lots of EC’s.
