Notre Dame Mendoza or Cornell School of Hotel Administration (SHA)

Hi all,

I’m a current senior, and I’m trying to figure out whether I should apply to ND REA or apply to Cornell SHA ED.

I have competitive grades and test scores, along with a lot of extra-curricular activities, community service, and national awards.

I’m interested in working on Wall Street after college, and I know that both of these schools have great job placement there.
(I’d major in finance at ND and major in Hotel Admin. at Cornell with a concentration in Finance, Accounting, and Real Estate [FARE].)

I visited Cornell in the summer and am going to visit ND next month, but my counselor wants me to figure out where I’m applying early now.

Well, I’m just hoping that I can get some insight from both ND and Cornell people. I like Cornell, but I’m not sure how I’d be looked upon as a Hotelie by other non-SHA students, and from what I’ve read, the community at ND is great no matter the school you’re in.

I’m hoping that I can get some advice as to what may help make my decision easier.

Thanks!

Here are some things to consider:
–You already identified that you would go to the Hotel Admin. school at Cornell or Mendoza at ND. Are you interested in the hospitality industry? Spend some time on the websites of both schools. Look at the majors offered in the Hotel Admin. as well as Mendoza as well as the course you would be taking at both schools and see if you have a preference.

–Consider that ND has EA and Cornell has ED so think about if you want to make a firm commitment to a school or leave your options open.
–Do you have a preference between attending a Catholic college and a non-sectarian college. You may want to look online at the core curriculum for both schools.
