What's Notre Dame like with this...I'm assuming same as any other school. I'm fearful of having 1 F on my midyear report in AP Calc, still fighting for that C. I got in early action with several B's and 1 C on my transcript already...I already have 3 years of math cred and such and I'm planning on being a political science and history major. Does this speak much for me or will I be rescinded for sure...I'm just really bad at that class, stuff doesn't register so easily. I really don't have senioritis, considering my academic record and such. Help!!?!?? Thanks.

I can speak to this since I actually asked about this last year. It is not the mid-year that they base rescinds on, it is the final transcript your school mails. If you get more than 2 grades of C on your record or one or more Ds, then they will “review” their offer to you. But if you fail a class then you will probably get rescinded. Do not fail. Get at least a D, better yet a C. Good luck.

We can get C’s? I’ve been trying too hard.

Um… I didn’t see the acceptance letter mention anything about sending anymore reports in… Is this between ND and my counsellor? Do I have to tell my counsellor to send the reports?

^ In the admissions packet, page 3, it mentions that a final transcript is required.

On another note, is a midyear report required as well?

No mid year, just the final transcript.

I think you’re in a lot of trouble…it definitely says in the acceptance packet about not declining in grades and stuff…

btw - are you a legacy? I’m shocked you got in with several Bs and a C. I have a friend with straight a’s, good test scores, good ECs, etc who didn’t get in EA

As I said, a grade of F or D will put you in trouble. A C will be okay as long as the rest aren’t bad. You cannot get Cs in the plural, that will flag you for review.

To your second question:
No I’m not a legacy, but I am not your typical ND applicant and that definitely helped me. Also, I was in the IB Diploma program. I did not have to compete with people like your friend who make up a large portion of the applicant pool. Your friend is not unique, plenty of people with good grades, tests, and ECs apply to top colleges every year.

How does being in the IB program make you all that unique? My friend looked a lot like my resume and I got in EA. also, she wrote her essay about scuba driving and swimming with sharks. She has her scuba diving license and she’s unique on a lot of different levels.

Unless you have straight As outside of that C, you’re in trouble. Seriously.

Wait, jsmithers I wasn’t asking if you were a legacy. I’m talking about the person who created this post

Haha I see. I didn’t mean the IB made me unique, although it is an added factor. But as far the C, you are not screwed. I currently attend ND and I sent in a final year report with a C and a bunch of Bs and I was not put up for review. Before sending in my transcript I even spoke with the office of admissions and specifically asked about the conditions necessary for the review/revocation of an offer and they told me what I originally posted.

“Unless you have straight As outside of that C, you’re in trouble. Seriously.” -FALSE!

ONE C WILL NOT PUT YOU IN TROUBLE. SERIOUSLY! I am speaking from personal experience and not speculation. Don’t let futurepresident worry you, you’re fine.

If it helps, I’m Asian :p.

how in the world did you get in with a C, regardless of ethnicity?? i have like 3 B’s and am terribly worried.

Hah, you’re telling me. I was just as surprised as you are now. I’m not really sure how I got in but I am very thankful that I did. Maybe it was my essays…if you want, I could pm my supplements to you and judge them for yourself :p.

lol… My high school year finished last year november… so technically, I DON’T have a final/mid year report…
Do I have to email them to tell them that?

ohhhh umm Black’s law, can you please pm me your supplements?

hahaha well you are very fortunate! sorry if i sounded rude, it was just surprising. notice i refuse to say “lucky” because those are excellent scores. hopefully we’ll be there together. go irish!

OP, how is being Asian and sucking at AP Calc supposed to help exactly? What will help is that your intended major at ND does not use Calculus, only Statistics (if any math at all).

I never said sucking AP Calc was supposed to help and I only said “being Asian” bc I understand that Notre Dame doesn’t have much of an Asian population.

Ah, OK, now I see why you mentioned you were Asian, and I agree it helped in getting in.
