Notre Dame Waitlist 2020

when I was notified about the waitlist I heard on May 5th of 2014. My roommate heard on May 12th: basically, they’ll first hit up the waitlist a few days after decisions come in, and as people respond they’ll keep going to it in waves. for our class I think they let on like… 40-60? so they probably made 2-3 runs.

Anybody know how many have accepted position on wait list this year?

@nstasi The website predicts that around 900 kids will stay on the waitlist.

For those of you that haven’t seen it yet, this article is a great resource and outlines the best steps to take in order to get off of the waitlist. For instance, I didn’t know that they prefer E-mail to physical mail, and I ended up waiting 20 days to hear a response from them! :)) Also, it’s important to note that they like to receive updates with 2 or 3 items at a time, as it makes things easier for them.

Best of luck, guys! Just 4 more days until we start to hear back - I’m nervous but excited!

I emailed my counselor a couple of days ago, she said it’s undecided whether they will be taking anyone off the waitlist. She said until the may 1st deadline passes they have no way of knowing.

We’ll know soon hopefully.

Not long now…

It won’t be on May 1st when they let us know, as they will have to reevaluate the class size and then reevaluate all of us. But yes, within the next 2 weeks, people should start hearing back if they need the list.

In the meantime, where did all of you enroll? I chose Villanova last night, which isn’t a bad choice considering they are the #1 business school according to Bloomsberg. Just going to take on a ton of debt to have this opportunity.

@IvyHopeful98 I am enrolled at UGA. It was a tough choice between UGA and U of Dayton (the main school in my home town, which I love), but I’m saving so much money at UGA that it’s probably worth it. The honors college at Georgia has benefits, too. It’s almost a school inside of a school.

I can handle a year at UGA almost for free - even though it’s a school that wasn’t my top choice. If waitlist decisions don’t work out in my favor, UGA has everything I need to build the best transfer application (or, who knows, maybe I will like it at Georgia).

Do you think ND will go to the waitlist this year? Last year they didn’t…sigh I am hoping for the best.

Also do they take waitlist people for Mendoza? or is it just CAS ?

@businessg101 For the last couple years, Notre Dame has taken a lot of people of the waitlist (near 100) and then taken next to none or none off the next year. If the pattern continues, ND should go to the waitlist this year, but there’s absolutely no reason for the pattern to continue.

On ND’s social media, they are posting all sorts of stuff asking accepted kids to hurry up and pay their deposit if they haven’t yet. If ND was already full, they wouldn’t be posting that, so I’m trying to stay optimistic.

The real answer is this: there’s no way to know until ND makes an official statement. On years when they don’t go to the waitlist, they send out an E-mail saying that they won’t be going to the waitlist. On years when they do go to the waitlist, they just start calling people.
My advice to you (what I have done so far) would be this: Send your local admissions rep an update of everything you’ve done since you’ve submitted your app, and if you’re Catholic like me, get out your Rosary :-SS :-SS

As to your second question, I’m honestly not sure. I’m College of Sciences myself (though I will change to Arts and Letters if I get in). Best of luck!

I emailed my representative an update to my application early yesterday (May 1st). On the ND website, it says that we should send them before May 1st. Do you think I will be penalized for this, even if May 1st fell on a weekend this year? I hope not. ND is my top choice, and I would really love to get in, even though I know it is unlikely at this point.

No of course not. You’ve shown interest. That’s all you can do at this point. Good luck!!!

I just got accepted off the waitlist. They called me. So many mixed emotions.

Also just got pulled off waitlist. I’m freaking out right now

@ProbDeferred @IvyHopeful98 Awesome. Congratulations to you both.

What time did they call? On Cell?

5:03 PM EST. Also, in the midst of my hype, I forgot to congratulate you @ProbDeferred !

congrats to you both!!!

My son also got in off waitlist - via phone call just before 5. We are just blown away - thought there was no chance … 70 kids he was told

Serious congrats to you as well @IvyHopeful98.

Didn’t think this would happen. Got a decision to make now, apparently.

Also, I believe they told me I’d be getting an admissions email tomorrow and a financial aid email the following day. Can anyone confirm that? Just wanna make sure I wasn’t hysterical.
