My daughter also got into the gateway program. We are wondering if It is still possible to get in off the waitlist, or is gateway her only ND option at this point? We will have to def check this out, but still hoping to get in ND freshman year.
Congrats to all. This could be a great option!!
Hi I have a question for the group as a whole. I am currently enrolled at Boston College which I love but as most of you on the waitlist can attest to, it is hard to be fully committed not yet having a result from a school back. If I didn’t get a call off the waitlist or an email into the gateway program does that mean that my chances are getting slimmer? Also if anyone has a timeline on when they let all the waitlisters know that would be very appreciated.
@NDwaitlister : I don’t think anyone has the timeline of all the waitlisters, I think the admissions team is still figuring that out.
and to wneely16, I believe you take two courses at Notre Dame so that administration fee may be the agreement Notre Dame and Holy Cross have for the credits.
@IliketoFence That actually makes perfect sense. Thanks for letting me know.
@NDwaitlister There isn’t a timeline for the future, but I can fill you in on what has happened so far. The first wave of people accepted from the waitlist were notified on Tuesday, May 3 at 5 PM, and their deadline to accept their offers is Monday, May 16. On Tuesday, May 17 or after that date, I feel strongly that the admissions team is going to make the remainder of their calls to take people off of the waitlist.
I was sent my Gateway offer on Thursday, May 12 at 7 PM, and I have until May 31 to decide. (I need my financial aid package before I can commit.)
@domerhopeful Your daughter can still get off the waitlist! According to the E-mail I received in my invitation, “we remain committed to offering any remaining spots to tenacious and talented students like yourself”, which implies that I or she could still be selected from the waitlist - at least that’s how I took it to mean.
@wneely16 , yay!! Thats great…we are still hopeful.
I did hear that all waitlisted can still be accepted through July. If my daughter accepts the gateway program, will she automatically be taken off the waitlist?
@domerhopeful My guidance counselor talked to my admissions officer on the phone, and she was told that waitlist selection will stop after May 31 - that’s something to keep in mind.
I’m not going to commit to Gateway until later in the month - I need to see my financial aid, and I want to be sure that I’m not taken from the regular waitlist. By the time I commit to Gateway, my chances of getting off the waitlist will be slim to none - however, if your daughter decides to commit now, I assume she’ll be removed from the waitlist.
Just enrolled. Best of luck to everybody else!
@IvyHopeful98 Congratulations. Have a wonderful 4 years at ND! Very happy for you that it all worked out.
While I know as little as everyone else on this board, it makes sense that if you accept the offer for the gateway program you lose your bargaining chip as opposed to a student who could turn down the gateway program in favor of their already committed to school. Ultimately, if I were in a similar position, I think I’d wait until late in May until after I’d received FA, and after I’d visited both schools. Do they release stats on how many students matriculate though the gateway program? I had a lot of difficulty my first semester and if I remember correctly any grades of a B- or lower disqualify you from the guaranteed transfer.
@wneely16, agree. We Will wait until all waitlist hope is gone, before accepting gateway.
We have so many questions and concerns, for ex: what will financial aid at ND be for the 3 years.
And we need to go visit Holy Cross…slot to think about!!
@IliketoFence The website said that 95% of Gateway students transfer up to ND, so I’m not too worried. Also, the courseload of the required classes looks like pretty simple stuff to me – ND classes are probably a lot more rigorous than HCC classes, but I’m just speculating about that. I agree about waiting to confirm, though.
@happy1 Thank you! And thanks for your guidance along the way!
So today could be the day for second wave?
could be? waitlist closed on may 20 last year, so I think we may know soon
because they didn’t pick anyone from waitlist for the last two years
@hyoot7 I have a strong feeling that it could be! Calls will probably made around 5 PM (if they are made at all.)
@Bluebrry People were taken from the waitlist in 2014, but not last year. The waitlist will close May 31 - I confirmed that with my admissions officer.
I feel like they may be calling tommorow, since it took them a two days to call the first time around, but who knows
Has anyone gotten a call yet?
@AP1229 Nope - guess I was wrong again, haha
