i thought it was hard because I didnt remember anything from Pre cal. i skipped like 10 lol

Yeah I got -2i.

dkwunw, could you explain how you got -6? I got something like 1.42 or something .42 or .43… :/

i feel like i got approaching 1.4 for an answer??
and z = i - 1 / z^2 = 2i? i think i got -2 as well (if you are moving down the y axis)

The limit one you could have graphed, or if you’ve taken AP BC Calculus, used L’Hopital’s rule to derive the top over the bottom and plug 1.5 in.

i honestly don’t understand the i question. what does i mean there, and how are we supposed to figure out z^2?

for the limit on where it was undefined at x=1.5 just graph it, its a point and the graph is at 1.42, i still have the graph on my calc. so its definitely 1.4 sumthing as x approaches 1.5

You don’t need l’hopital.

I remember factoring, canceling out the factors, and plugging in.

bigcrit, here is my interpretation

z= 1- i

z^2 = (1-i)^2
z = 1 - 2i + (i)^2
z = 1 - 2i -1
z = -2i

I went to graph, and found where y = -2i the point, and that’s all.

^^what did you get for an answer…

Z=1-i
z^2=1-2i+(-1)=-2i

It should have been answer B, the point 2 notches down from the origin in the complex plane.

lol, i guess, L’Hopital’s is just easier for me i guess.

if you didn’t skip any problems…
then how many can u get wrong and get above 700?

wasn’t it (x+1)(2x-3)/(2x+3)(2x-3)

at 1.5, you get (1.5+1)/(3+3)=2.5/6=.42

you’re right. i^2 =-1… i understand now. i can’t believe i missed that on the test… -.-

I second stix2400, wasn’t it .42? What’s all this about graphs and L’Hopitals? I feel like I’m missing something here.

Lol, it’s nothing, don’t pay attention to it. I don’t even think i used it, maybe on a different question. all you had to do was factor and plug in.

…weren’t they already factored?

Haha, sorry to nitpick, but I’m confused, I hope I hadn’t misread the things I cancelled out.

yea .42 something just cancel out come on…, this test was pretty easy I finished within 30 min and double checked the answers.

it was .42 sorry i dont know where i got the 1 from.

anyway it was easier to graph if ur fast with ur calc then factor and plug in that is all.

Thank god. lets out breath

So, 2 omit, maybe 1-2 wrong, fingers CROSSED. Or maybe I’m grossly overestimating and 700+ will be a reach. I need to forget about this.

can u guys please tell me how many u can get wrong to get over 700

Lol I guess I got 0.42, not 1.42. I hope 1.42 wasn’t one of the options :S because otherwise I’ll get paranoid. I just graphed it and did CALC->VALUE->X=1.5.
