so wait what does ere mean in this context?

after reading that, I can see that the answer is indeed "quickly forgotten". Damn, I put by all those who mourn them...

EDIT: ere means 'before' in this context. Saying that the dead will be forgotten before they are wrapped in their funeral sheets means that they will be forgotten quickly.

Does anyone know the actual name of the charles on fire poem?

I think the name of the poem is Charles on Fire.

I didnt get to finnish a whole play set of questions. I think i'm screwed, even though the practice tests I took were soooo easy.

Here is the full text of the sonnet, by Michael Drayton:

How many paltry, foolish, painted things,
That now in coaches trouble every street,
Shall be forgotten, whom no Poet sings,
Ere they be well wrapt in their winding-sheet.
Where I to thee eternity shall give,
When nothing else remaineth of these days,
And Queens hereafter shall be glad to live
Upon the alms of thy superfluous praise.
Virgins and matrons, reading these my rhymes,
Shall be so much delighted with thy story
That they shall grieve they liv'd not in these times,
To have seen thee, their sex's only glory.
So shalt thou fly above the vulgar throng,
Still to survive in my immortal song.

Regarding the winding sheet, I believe the poet is saying (in simplified terms) "They will be forgotten before (ere) they are buried." This would lead to the "quickly forgotten" answer, but the words "well wrapt" seem to suggest that care is taken in their burial (someone does care for them and will thus remember them), so I understand why some believe "forgotten by all but those who mourn them" would be the right answer. I actually chose the latter as well, but I'm 90% certain that I was incorrect. It could be either, depending upon how you interpret the lines. You have to read into it a bit more to arrive at the answer I and others gave.

As far as the superfluous praise question goes, I think the lines "And Queens hereafter shall be glad to live, Upon the alms of thy superfluous praise." are clearly stating that queens that live in future times will be happy just to live on even a fragment (alms=money given as charity-->alms of thy praise=ostensibly a small amount of the praise given) of the praise the poet is giving to his lover. I don't remember the answer choices to the question, but my answer was decided upon this interpretation.

For that question about the queens, I picked the one that was about overabundance. I agree with what takeitdown said about them only wanting a fraction of her praise. I don't remember the other choices, but I had it narrowed down between overabundance and something about him not being able to praise her enough.

Continued to launch one, as before, in life

Still, as one of us said into his beard

One Q asked what vaporous eddies and false claims meant... What did you guys put for that one?
