November 2011 Japanese with Listening

What you guys felt about the question?

Does anyone know the answer for the last one?

I practiced alot! And I think It payed off. The answer was “plant” for the last question.

What about the listening part? There was a conversation about directions, what were the people going to do for the next few minutes? Was it go straight?

Oh my God that was horribleeeeeeeeeeeee.

Overall this test was painful. They speak way too fast on the listening, I hated the usage section, the reading comp had so many kanji I didn’t know, and I took 10 minutes to copy the certification statement and they were all looking at me so I had to rush and make up script letters.

for the questions it was advertising dried fruits. ドライド フル-ツ

and for the manners question it was because people flock to convenience stores.

That test was pretty fun(: Some of the listening was annoying though =P

And I’m pretty sure last one was plant

@Muffin: Yeah, I think it was to go straight for the next few minutes.

I thought the test was a total rip-off if you compare it to the short practice test on collegeboard ! It had nothing to do with it at all! It was ridiculously hard compared to it, i mean the conversations in the listening part were really long, fast and it was so hard to keep track. And what the heck was up with all those kanjis ! It was a different level for me.

I dunno, i feel a little cheated… the practice test made it seem easy as hell (i mean come on, “hareru sou desu yo ! :D” what will it be like tomorrow ? LOL) and there was no information, no real practice books at all, NOTHING.
Is it that hard to make sure students have ressources for ALL tests ? It’s not like the actual subject tests change -.- …

End of my ranting.

@muffinmiruku yup, that’s what I put : ) he did say “massugu”

@Sae: Yeah, I agree the practice test made it seem very easy, but I talked to some friends that took it previously and realized it would be more difficult. I didn’t think the listening was too bad, although I’m sure I missed a couple.
I really wouldn’t complain about the kanji, I mean, it’s mostly about being able to comprehend the text without actually knowing all the kanji - or at least that’s what it seemed like to me.

@angel yeah, i didn’t expect to know all of the kanjis but there were some questions where the answer was all in that one kanji you don’t understand -,- so i got a little frustrated.
How did you prepare for the listening test ? I really struggled with the speed :s and didn’t know how to prepare for it…

Yeaaah, I know what you mean. Kanji is my worst part too, that’s why I didn’t get a 5 on the AP Test D:
Ah, I go to a private Japanese school (in addition to taking Japanese at school), so I have had more practice with conversation/listening to people speak. Also, I’ve found that watching Anime/JDramas helps greatly. Especially JDramas since you get more variety in the types of speech you listen to.

Wow, that sounds pretty cool o:
I’ve only done 2 years of japanese, mostly written stuff, I’m not so good with listening :s Haha I tried watching Jdramas without subtitles but I have some sort of lag between listening and comprehending (I have to think and repeat slowly what the person just said to catch all of the words and understand lol, I’m a little slow), and the colloquial language doesn’t help either (I’m so used to structure and such). Too fast for me D: I just give up after a while cause i don’t understand anything xD

i need some answers:
im not sure

I put “shimasu”

sorry, i was confused about that one :s i think i put ishuukan but i know that’s wrong -,-

It’s “takakute”

I put that it was her brother but I’m not sure
And yes, the recording was unclear
I put 30,000 people
For the fruits, i took a wild guess because of the kanjis i didn’t understand x,x so “fresh” but i have no clue

Ahh, yeah, I’ve only studied for about 2 years and a half, but I’m not suggesting watching JDrama without subtitles. Just watch with subtitles so you become more familiar with speech. By doing so you’re basically immersing yourself in Japanese culture since you’ll constantly hear what they’re saying. I usually pick up on interesting phrases like that, and you’ll become more accustomed to hearing Japanese speech. So yeah, watch with subtitles, but the main thing is just to watch/hear Japanese and you’ll gradually get better!

Shimasu

I put tsuitachi, but I was not sure on that either.

Takakute

Itadakima****a

@angel Thanks x) ! Well, I’ll get better but I think it’ll take a lot of time LOL. You seem like you pick up well :)

yeah it was tsuitachi and shimasu. i got takakute and itadaku wrong ■■■. Umm. what about that reading question?? and also on the reading where it was talkin bout sales and marketing 3 years something, tour guide something. that was a travel agency adverstisement right? and it suggested applicants to have sales experience right?

Yeah, keep working(: Japanese is like my 5th language, so I have a lot of experience xPP

Hmm for the listening
It was Chie and her brother.
Recording was unclear
I don’t know about 30k ppl
Fruits I’m not sure either.

omg omg - why did that guy travel to india?? cus he had a student there(i put this) or because he was an exchange student or he liked the culture orsomething? Also did he start a photography club (i put this)?
And on a different passage - it talked about one person’s morning routine in food and what not. Did it take him 30 minutes to “prepare” or “Eat” the food? i put he made fruit preserves or something as well, and that he doesnt drink coffee.

the thing about the travel agency you got it right
And I personally put eat the food cause if i remember correctly she said that she prepared AND ate it ?

Yeah, it was travel and sales I think.
Alsoo uhh, he went to India because he had a classmate that was from there. And he started photography club.
I said 30 min to eat, but I could be wrong LOL, I don’t remember the fruit preserves thing… but yeah he didn’t drink coffee.

on the reading with the girl writing to her dad at 1:30. did she say she would return at 11pm that night or 11 next day. also was the next q. give mwessage to reiko?

yes i put all those too

on the listening section there was one about mr. watanabe -
did the girl want to have mr. watanabe borrow it(i dont know what the object was)? or did she want to lend it to the other dude. also the next q. - the answer was mr . watanabe would not be here the day after tomorrow (asatte) right?
