****November 2013 SAT Thread***

So what is the story behind there being two completely different tests?

Also, can someone compile a list of vocabulary words they remember (not necessarily answers) to add to this thread

@santaman1 i also got 3! (:

Did anyone have the passage about Easter Island?

For the US tests:

Mathematics:

1) set G has all even numbers from (2~10,000) and set E has all multiples of 5 from (5~10,000). How many numbers of set G are NOT in set E?

Answer: 4000
Explanation: The total number of even integers from (2~10,000) was 10,000/2 which is 5000. And the total number of integers in set E was 10,000/5 which is 2,000. The numbers that exist in both sets are 10,20,30,40, etc. (These numbers are half of set E, so 1,000). Therefore, 5000 - 1000 = 4000.

2) The ring questions with color pattern of Red, Blue, Green, Green, Yellow, something.

Answer: Red
Explanation: the 16th ring was now blue, so I set pretended that it is the first term, and found that the 51st term was red. (you can brute-force count this).

3) The question with a rectangle with a triangle attached and asked you to find ED, with total area equal to 30 and base=6 and height=4.

Answer: 3

4) Gave you a circle with diameter. and you had to find the ratio of the greatest area of triangle to the area of the circle.

Answer: 1/pi

I remember one Grammar question, and the answer was like A) Enriched by
Explanation: This is a tricky idiom question. The answer should have been “Enriched WITH”.

you had a different version^

No; it would be four. the -1 means that it moves one to the bottom. The graph had four points at 1 (y) It asked for the points that were in the x axis from values 3<x<3 (i know its 2, but theres no smaller/equal to). All you had to do is move the whole picutre one unit down.

edit: I can’t remember if there were three or four on the 1 (as in Y).

Please did ANYONE have the Easter Island reading passage besides me???

Which reading section was the experimental?

Was it the section that talked about Richard Nixon and his talks with Soviet Premier Nikita about some kitchen ideals, role of women, etc?

I did not get an easter egg passage even though I had 4 reading sections. there is some guess that there may be 2 different versions of the test.

Did anyone else get 9 for their last grid in? if so what was the question again?

Which CR was experimental? I had the form with:

-Music Authenticity
-Some swimmer woman
-Letters from Abigail Adams
-Some Iran old community
-Mars

For vocab, did anyone get one with intemperate? It was like the last question on the sentence completion…

Was the section with the rabbit/duck picture experimental?

What was the rabbit/duck passage again? For me, this was like section 7 I think on my test…

It was the last 25 minute reading section for me because I had 4 reading sections altogether… The rabbit/duck passage was about how art shouldn’t be concerned with direct representation or something like that… I think you had an entirely different test though judging from your post

i had the music authencity one… dont know how i did but that was one of the ones i thought was okay… and i had a swimming one which i thought was harder

What about that math question that was around question 5 (easy, i know) that said it costs x people y hours for something so how much would it cost x^2 people. Was the answer square root of y?

@eps96, I don’t remember that question, but that reminds me of another I want to get confirmation on. For the question that said if w=xy^2, which of the following is NOT a factor of (w-x)? I got y

I think we had different tests because I dont remember having your question either, sorry.

@texas
it was Y, trust me :p
