It swings more than the mood of a pmsing woman. It can go from 30 percent of the waistlist to extremely low.

EDIT: I read this on some data sheet on NU’s own website so I assume its accurate. They report the number of waitlisted students and the number who are admitted through it for the past few years.

did anyone receive a call today? if not, i can’t believe they haven’t started yet! other prestigious schools have already started calling their waitlistees. i can’t wait any longer!

NU may not be going to the waitlist this year. They have received 2211 deposits and I remember hearing that their target number for the class was 2125.

evilsquirrel2112- i think they will call you, but from what Akshat and Objective789 said above, i think there is little hope any of us waitlistees will be receiving calls this year. I think either they won’t go to the waitlist at all, or if they do, it will be more like mid June after they start getting that “melt” mentioned above. I would call the ug admissions office and just come out and ask them directly, but i’m too afraid to hear what they might say.

I do hope you get a favorable call! Keep up the faith. D was accepted to NU, but ultimately chose another university. She’s enduring the waitlist purgatory too just at other schools. Anyway, Northwestern is great. (I would have loved to have gone there.) I hope they start making calls. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Okay, so I emailed them 2 days ago, and this is the reply that I got back.

Hello ________,

Thank you for your message. We have made no moves regarding the wait list yet. We do not know if we will make any offers of admission to students like you who have remained on the wait list.
When we do know, we will communicate the decisions we have reached. Thank you very much for your patience!

Sincerely,

F. Sheppard Shanley
Senior Associate Director of Admission
Northwestern University

From what I can tell. I believe that they overaccepted and now, they’re overenrolled. So, this will be the first year in like, 10 years that they won’t be using their waitlist. kinda sad that it has to be this year --;; . Oh well, this was my top choice school, but best of luck to everyone else!

Please post if anyone receives any other response…

What’s with the “we’ll keep your application for a year incase you apply as a transfer…usually students who were wait-listed have a high admission chance if they reapply as a transfer?”
